Song for talent shows - 2008/02/10 16:23 OK, every year, my school puts on a talent show, and I have made it my mission to bring some culture to the school and do a Broadway song every year.

This year, I'm possibly going to do two songs, one of which would be "I'm Not That Girl" from Wicked (Before you say anything, nothing theatre related is overdone at my school, since I'm relatively the only one who likes it. This way, I can choose pretty much anything I want and most people won't know what it is.)
Since "I'm Not That Girl" shows off my lower range, and it's a ballad, I was looking for something more uptempo and higher for my second piece.

My comfortable range is Eb3 to Eb5, though I want to stay away from some lower notes since that shows in the other song. I'd like something uptempo, and maybe a little bit comedic.

Any suggestions?

Re:Song for talent shows - 2008/02/12 16:35 Taylor the Latte Boy. It's has great potential for people who don't like showtunes to like it, it's comedic and balad-ish,but it's also peppy! I Rent a Wicked apartment on Avenue Q! (Unfortunatly, it's haunted by a Phantom)

Re:Song for talent shows - 2008/02/29 14:41 you can totally ignore me on this post.... but my friend sang "I'm not that girl" for the talent show this year, and she was amazing. It's just that nobody really got into it because it was so slow. While it's an AMAZING song... i don't know.

i don't know. ignore me.

Re:Song for talent shows - 2008/03/15 01:36 I had the same problem! I wanted to sing a broadway song for my talent show and bring a bit of culture and everything...I went with I'm Not Wearing Underwear Today from Avenue Q...It was a huge success... (I think im not that girl would be good though)

Re:Song for talent shows - 2008/03/15 15:32 Thanks you guys, I just wanted to let you know that I made the talent show! Yay me! After I auditioned I got to thinking...maybe I'll beg the lady who runs the talent show to let me do "The Dark I Know Well" also...since I only auditioned with "I'm Not That Girl"

I'm already planning next year's song...Woe Is Me (and I'll see if I can get two of my friends to be my 'dads.')
