"Someone Else's Story" (Chess) - 2008/02/04 00:01 (copied from video description)

It's not perfect, but not bad for a first-try recording. I really don't know the middle section ("It's all very well...") so I was pretty ... all » much making it up; I apologize if I completely butchered it. Also, I forget lyrics quite frequently- sorry about that. And yeah, my room's a mess.

So, yeah... Uh, be harsh, I don't mind. I'm performing this at a studio concert type of thing in a few months. I'm flat all over the place (any ideas?) and the accompaniment sucks (which I unfortunately can't control).

Re:"Someone Else's Story" (Chess) - 2008/02/04 01:58 The hugest thing I can recommend for you is breathe. If you just gave proper support to your voice, you could nail it.

Smaller things, keep the sound forward and be careful not to chew your words up too much. Keeping working and give us an update!

Re:"Someone Else's Story" (Chess) - 2008/02/05 21:33 Thanks for your reply I do know what you're talking about, it just seems hard to impliment it- know what I mean? Haha, I really need a voice teacher.

I'll record this again soon, hopefully. If not, I'll make someone tape it at the concert.

Re:"Someone Else's Story" (Chess) - 2008/02/06 00:00 Try singing while lying on the floor. It'll force you to engage your lower abs.

It's actually harder to sing correctly standing up. For nearly the entirety of Act 3 of La Traviata, Violetta sings from a reclined position. Someone needs to write musical theater roles like that.
