Eep! My first callback in high school - 2007/12/04 22:53 So on Monday I auditioned for Hello Dolly at my school which is like my 8th audition there, and this was the first time I got a callback. So today was the dance callbacks and we learned this cool charleston dance. I think I did pretty well. Singing and acting callbacks are tomorrow for lead roles, and the final cast list for leads and chorus should be up thursday or friday. I'm so excited!

Re:Eep! My first callback in high school - 2007/12/05 06:09 good luck! my high school never has callbacks, and for the first time they did for The Wizard of Oz, and there were 2 sophomores, a jr, and a sr for dorothy. Me being a sophomore kept hope and gave them everything even though i felt like it was going to the sr, even though i was better. (seniority rule) but i saw the list on monday and my friend comes running over to my lunch table screaming "YOU'RE DOROTHY YOU'RE DOROTHY!!!" and i feel great (besides the fact the school is mad that a sophomore got lead for the first time in....ever i believe)
GOOOD LUCK!
Catherine
currently: stage manager Into the woods Jr
soprano chorus Princess Ida

Re:Eep! My first callback in high school - 2007/12/05 08:47 I got a callback for The Diviners at my school and it was my first. I didn't end up being cast but I was a second choice. Unfortunately, a girl showed up for the callbacks even though she wasn't at the regular audition. It wasn't fair because she didn't even show up to the first audition but she still got a part. I would gotten this other girl's role and the other girl and would have gotten the unprofessional girl's role. Anyway, good luck, girl! :] I have Bye Bye Birdie auditions on Monday. :] Upcoming: US Performing Arts Camps

Re:Eep! My first callback in high school - 2007/12/06 10:38 so...I didn't make it. Usually I handle rejection really well, but this time I'm pretty upset, because I know that I danced better than some of the girls who made the show. The directors played favorites again and it's just really starting to frustrate me because I've had to go through three years of it now.

Re:Eep! My first callback in high school - 2007/12/06 12:30 I am sorry to hear that you did not make the show. I know it stink ssome times, but try not to let it get you too down. You made is farther this time then before so that is good. I know that it is frustrating when you see that the casting is not done by talent but by who you know. Believe me, we have all been through it. But just keep working at it and don't give up, because a good part of musical theatre is about persistence. I have been auditioning for this one company for years, always getting minor parts and watching people with lesser talent be casted just because they were in with the director, but I kept on persisting and I finally landed a role worth having. Keep your head up and your dancing shoes on!

Re:Eep! My first callback in high school - 2007/12/14 13:03 I've auditiond for eight shows (four of them are musicals) and I just made my first one. :] But, I know the rejection well. I know I'm not the best out of the bunch or a favorite but next year, all the favorites will be gone, except for one and then I might have a chance. But yeah I know the rejection well. I've only made one show without a crew job, not including the one I just found out about. Just keep trying. I do it because I LOVE theatre. It's one of mmy passion besides writing. If I never do make it as an actress, I want to write. Upcoming: US Performing Arts Camps
