Re:You're The One That I Want - 2007/01/08 00:45 I'm listening to it DVRed in the background of typing this. It seems good although because they're appealing to a larger audience, it's more about the movie than show.

It's opposite of American Idol to me in that I want to watch the actual show, not the auditions. I'm finding them boring. I do intend on trying to learn the audition dance!

Re:You're The One That I Want - 2007/01/08 19:25 i didn't read the article yet, so maybe my ?? will be answered....

shelby, i thought the same thing when i was watching last night-- it seemed to be more about the movie than the staged production. they revived Grease a few years ago, and while it was the staged version, i think they added some of the movie aspects to it. are they planning on doing more than that w/ this new production?

i was also a little confused w/ the sandy/danny thing. i thought that the whole show was being cast?? maybe sunshine and patricia weren't your stereotypical sandies, but they could definitely pull off a jan, and hey-- maybe even a rizzo..... (i'd have to watch again to see if i agree w/ myself on that....)

AND i am not sure if i believed that dominic guy as a danny. not even w/ an older sandy. he looked out of place to me. anyone else agree?

Re:You're The One That I Want - 2007/01/08 19:33 i don't know why, but that whole IM thing cracked me up....

loved this line:

And how do you get back and forth from Grease Academy to Guys and Dolls Institute? On the Show Boat, of course

sooo corny....

Re:You're The One That I Want - 2007/01/08 23:14 I didn't think it was too bad. Very cheesy but it might turn out okay. It's a good way for normal people to breakinto broadway with their "hidden talents" without haveing to be a professional actor or having tons of expierence. I liked that some of the history of the writing of the origional play was told and that the author is part of the judging process. What's with the british guy though? Maybe I'm dumb but is he significant (a director of something) or is he just another marketing ploy in a long list of british judges?

Re:You're The One That I Want - 2007/01/09 00:10 Cute article, I really loved the IM section!

One thing that I found very odd was when girls auditioning for Sandy used "There are Worse Things I Could Do" as an audition song. That is probably one of the worst songs you could sing at an audition for Sandy (IMHO) especially since Sandy and Rizzo are polar opposites.

Oh well, that's reality television for you

Re:You're The One That I Want - 2007/01/10 23:01 I agree, I heard that song and I'm like "What?! They're singing Rizzo's song for an audition for SANDY?!" Well, I heard no "Look At Me, I'm Sandra Dee," so they weren't that clueless. Heard a lot of "Hopelessly Devoted", though. Melchi Gabor, he's such a radical!!!

Re:You're The One That I Want - 2007/01/11 00:28 Hopelessy Devoted isn't even in the stage play! And if it is I really need to find my family's script...

Is it just me, or could you not take any of the guys who sang "Greased Lightning" seriously? And I didn't like that Dominic guy either. My favorite Sandy was the Pharmaceutical lady. I like the way she sang the look at me reprise and wore that business outfit. I thought they matched, but I may be insane.
The opposite of Rent is Oklahoma!!! Why didn't I think of that?

Re:You're The One That I Want - 2007/01/18 12:23 Did anyone see this week's episode? I found it funny that the Asian girl did an audition, she cracked me up with the blond wig and all. Anyone see the 40something lady named Rizzo who tried out? She looked much older, sang OK, though. I was laughing! Oh, and the couple who went on and the girl broke up with him because she didn't get in...I'm babbling, aren't I? Oh well, it was really good this week. Melchi Gabor, he's such a radical!!!
