I am now co-founder of a theatre company... - 2007/09/22 20:22A friend and I have been talking about starting our own company for a while now, but it seemed mostly talk. Within the last week, we have booked a theatre and bought the rights to "Footloose"! How weird is that??? As he is sinking most of his money into the show, he is directing. But I am Assistant Director as well as probably taking a smaller role in the show. I can't believe we are going to take on putting on a whole show! Wow...perhaps we are crazy?
Anyway, if anyone here is in Toronto and has interest in being in the show or helping out, let me know. I'm Samantha. But you can call me Sam.

Friends of mine started their production company a while ago and did their first show, Passion, this summer (I did costumes). We ended up making profit on it, too!

I have some friends who started a company 18 years ago, with nothing but a grant and a dream. Now, it is one of the most beloved companies in the Denver area.

Re:I am now co-founder of a theatre company... - 2007/12/31 00:06So this is kinda crazy. In 20 days we start auditioning for our show. I already have booked over 150 people for auditions! We've also had some sponsers come forward and offer to help.
As well as me (the Assistant Director), we have the Artistic Director (my co-founder - it is his money going into this, thus he gets to direct), a Musical Director, Choreographer, Costume Designer, Marketing Rep, Stage Manager and Lighting/Sound technician - all people who found out about us and went through interviews and/or auditions. We auditioned 6 choreographers before finding the right one - boy was that tiring!
