What to See? - 2006/12/23 07:53I'm going to NYC this February and I have no idea what shows to see. I'm really interested in Spring Awakening but besides that I don't have a clue. I only get to go to 2 shows but at least I'm going at all. Most of the big shows are coming to my town this year anyway and I don't really want to see any of the ones that are gonna run forever and be there everytime I go back to NYC. I'm really excited!! Please help me decide!-Georgia

Re:What to See? - 2006/12/23 22:48I would suggest seeing the revival of A Chorus Line but I could be a bit biased because I'm seeing it on Wednesday and can't wait! I've also heard great things about The Color Purple and Mary Poppins, so I suppose it really all depends on your taste.
Hopefully my suggestions will help a bit----------Emily----------

Re:What to See? - 2006/12/24 07:37A Chorus Line would be excellent because A) It's an incredible show and You'd see original cast.
But that is the same reason why it would be excellent to see Spring Awakening.
I would say Spring Awakening if your a teenager because the music really rips through me...But I wouldn't see it if you are going with family.
If you are going with Family, I say stick to A Chorus Line

Re:What to See? - 2006/12/24 08:55I'd say to stick with A Chorus Line if you're looking for family-oriented stuff.
On a different note, though, Avenue Q is a hoot! My boyfriend and I saw it on the 9th (it was our anniversary trip), and we just about laughed our butts off.sweet Alyssa!

Re:What to See? - 2006/12/25 21:42once again i'm going to reccomend The Drowsy Chaperone. It is hilarious! Also The 25th annual Putnam County Spelling Bee wich is funny and really heart warming. I also agree with A Chorus Line. I just recently saw it and thought it was very good. the dancing was amazing! And if you get the chance, you should definitly see Spring Awakening, i've heard such great things about it and nobody knows how long it will be around. Also, the new revival of Company looks interesting. You could also look in to seeing Forbidden Broadway off broadway. It peridies current broadway shows and changes all the time and is soooo funny if you are a broadway fan.

Re:What to See? - 2006/12/26 18:40I'm with Eleanor. Go see Drowsy Chaperone or Spelling Bee. Drowsy'd be the better choice if you're with family, I think. A Chorus Line's a great choice too.
I'm jealous! I hardly ever get to go to New York. You'll have a great time, no matter what you see.Shelby Jr. Moderator

Re:What to See? - 2006/12/29 00:16I'm going with my parents so Avenue Q is definitely out even though I'm dying. My mother has absolutely refused to see this, but I've gotten my Dad to agree to take me to Spring Awakening, which is the show I wanted to see most anyway. I saw a really great production of Chorus Line here this summer with a few of the current BWay cast members so I'm not gonna see that even though it is a great show. Now I've just gotta decide between Mary Poppins and Drowsy Chaperone. Even though it would be really cool to see the original cast of MP, I know it's probably gonna run for like a million years so is it worth seeing this time when there are other show running that I'd alos really like to see? Btw, thanks for all y'all's help so far!-Georgia

Re:What to See? - 2006/12/31 00:46Interesting fact, USA Today recently reported that The Drowsy Chaperone is the most overrated show on Broadway.----------Emily----------

Re:What to See? - 2007/01/05 01:37Now, that's an analysis! He's a bit harsh, though. broadwaybaby, I hope you'll have a blast seeing both shows (I'm sure you will)! Have fun and tell us everything about your trip when you're back! ^^-- Marie
