Does this even exist? - 2007/02/23 23:11 I need some help with an idea for a variety show number. We'll have plenty of time to learn it, so don't factor in any time crunches. Here's what is important...

-needs to have 3-5 girls
-preferably has alto parts
-is comedic, if possible
-(most importantly) isn't Mama, I'm a Big Girl Now

Got any ideas? I'm drawing a blank.

Re:Does this even exist? - 2007/02/24 16:45 ummm...you could also try "little shop of horrors"-3 girls

also, if the girls can hit a couple of soprano notes, listen to "3 little maids from school" from the mikado and "climbing over rocky mountains" from pirates of penzance-can be 5 girls

Re:Does this even exist? - 2007/02/26 23:10 Okay, so I've had to look for similar songs before! Comedic songs for a group of girls is hard to find! The best one I know of is "Get a Gimmick" from "Gypsy." It's hilarious, and 3 altos. Also...I know it's way over done, but "Cellblock Tango" from Chicago is so much fun to perform! And my last suggestion, you may not like it, but there are a ton of songs from "Dreamgirls" written for 3 or 4 girls. They aren't comedic, and unfortunately due to the movie they are really popular right now...but there are some good songs in there! Well...That's my two cents! *Stephanie*

Favorite roles:
Petey Fisk in Greater Tuna
The Cat in The Hat in Seussical
Dainty June in Gypsy

Next Audition...High School Musical

Re:Does this even exist? - 2007/02/27 13:35 "Somebody's Eyes" from Footloose might work, it's originally written as a trio but could easily be spilt into more parts. ----------Emily----------

Urleen - Footloose
Favorite Roles:
Aida - AIida[i], Joanie Lish - [i]The Full Monty, Carmen - Sweet Charity, Crystal - Little Shop of Horrors, Sarah's Friend - Ragtime, Little Red Riding Hood - Into the Woods, Evillene - The Wiz
