Fiddler on the Roof; Once on This Island - 2008/04/12 19:02
Fiddler on the Roof and Once on This Island both have upcoming auditions in a month. I'm 19 and a legit soprano with a range up to high A and down to the G below middle C (though it's a bit out of my comfort; my lowest "comfort note" is the A below middle C).
I'd really love to get the character of Hodel for Fiddler on the Roof, though Tzeital would also work. It says to "prepare to sing a few bars from the show," so I was wondering how I might go about that? Would they already have this prepared for us, or should we prepare our own selection?
I was also wondering what parts, if any, Once on This Island, might have for a white female my age. I've listened to about half of the OBCR (I'm listening to it right now lol), and I really like the music, but I can't tell if there are any roles for someone like me, especially a non-belter. I can belt up to C5 or so, but that's right about my limit (I think I can actually go to D5, but I do NOT want to push it, seeing as I haven't been trained in belting). Also, assuming there ARE parts for someone like me, how much dancing would be required for that part? And what a good audition song might be?
Thanks!
