Annie Get Your Gun - 2008/04/09 17:25 So my amateur dramatics society is putting on Annie Get Your Gun.

I'm 5"4, mezzo soprano and can belt quite well.

I would go for Winnie but sadly my society is putting on the OLD OLD version minus Winnie and Tommy. Basically Annie is my only shot

Q1) I am 17 will be 18 by June Auditions are in two weeks How old is Annie meant to be? I keep getting confused because my research keeps saying different.

Q2) My regional accent comes across fine when I'm singing, but I'm concerned that I sound too high when I speak when usually I have a low speaking voice...Advice on regional accents?

Q3) Has anyone played Annie before?

Re:Annie Get Your Gun - 2008/04/09 18:06 Annie is meant to be about 16 if you follow the actual biographical story but is usually cast about mid to late twenties in professional productions (unless you are 52 and Bernadette Peters, in which case she somehow got away with it although not to my taste).

A southern American accent is required for this part, listen to some of that while watching appropriate films (not Vivien Leigh in Gone with the wind, horrible accent).

I played Annie at drama school and loved it.

Re:Annie Get Your Gun - 2008/04/13 10:06 Fantastic thank you! The accent is coming along it's just a worry. At the moment looks like I'm a strong contender for Annie but you never know in the world of am-dram so am working so hard to ensure I get the role
