Seussical - Gertrude? - 2008/04/08 21:59
Hello, so I have an upcoming audition for Seussical the Musical, but it's not for a couple months, which gives me more prepare time. 
Seussical happens to be one of my favorite shows, and Gertrude is a special dream role of mine, lol. Pretty much, for all intents & purposes, I am Gertrude, besides being a bird. I don't know if this sounds self centered, but I have too much in common with this character, lol.
But Gertrude also happens to be a big role, and i've only played chorus members in all my shows..... I know that it never hurts to try, but I'm not sure what the directors would think.... I wouldn't mind getting any other parts though.
Problem: Song & monologue. I know I need a contemporary song, but it's tough finding a good one. And a monologue that involves energy is a must.
Again, I'll be searching myself, but some advice would be verrry helpful!! Thank you! 
edit: aww jeez, i forgot. I'm 15, I tipically sing soprano, but my lower ranges are getting stonger (halleluia), but I can't belt. Gertrude on the OBC belts a little, but i'll just havta fake it. (haha) okay!
