I've been in the show before, as Ida. I'm not quite sure what info you're looking for. I'm afraid I can't help with songs, being a girl I'm not too familiar with male songs. 
I guess, I would just say about the role of Ugly... although he is most often portrayed as a 'nerdy' character, it is not really Ugly who has a problem... it is everyone else (except Ida of course! ) Ugly is kind and trusting and sincere and eager to please.. it's Drake, the ducklings, the Cat, the barnyard animals, etc. who have a problem within themselves that makes them not like him. In the beginning he is blissfully ignorant of being 'different', but sadly learns that there is something about him that others don't like. Really, his song "Different" sums up the whole character.
I think he is the kind of character that wears his emotions on his sleeve. If he's happy and having fun it's very obvious, if he is sad it is obvious.
I did this show in 2003, and can't really remember auditions, but since this is a show about.. well.. barnyard animals, don't be afraid to be "out there" with character interpretations, trying new things, stretching yourself, etc.
