help for a special range - 2006/12/28 09:16
alright, I'm searching for good audition songs for my high schools upcoming performace of City of Angels...now I would love to get the part of Stone or Stine, however the other males singing roles would be fine...(by the way at my school everyone in the musical theatre class is guaranteed a role and lack of males plus ability to sing gives me a shoe in for at least one of the singing roles)
Anyway to my issue...my vocal range is best described at double bass (fancy that) it's about from middle c to the f below the bass clef with ledger lines (not the one directly below, the octave under that...not to brag),
in bass clef ----- -----F ----- ----- ----- F ---<---ledger line --- --- -F- <----my low limit
anyway this gives difficulty in finding a suitable audition piece (and yes I'm aware that nobody, even the bass in the quartet falls in that range) but my teacher will allow and octave jump should I obtain the part I desire...however finding songs to audition with can be difficult in my case, I need to drop the octave anyway...if anyone knows of any really low songs from a musical (other than the prist in jesus christ superstar, and old man river in showboat) that would be greatly appreciated
