My arguement to my Board... - 2007/02/18 22:35 We have one last show to pick for the season, it is our closing musical.

I have to give the board the final choices but I already know what I want to do.

let me explain a little... the Board of Directors for the theater are not a very savvy bunch... they know Oklahoma and that is about it.

So I have to convince them that "Little Women" is a good choice to close a season with.
First, I love the show, it is awesome.. the lead on broadway is from our home town also which helps... (Sutton Foster)
Lots of women in the show of course which is good also.
Costumes are about the only thing that may put a little strain on the budget.

The other choice is Urinetown which has been produced by all the surrounding theaters already and NO ONE has done "Little Women" yet.. so we would be the first - They (The Board of directors) HATE being first with anything.

The third choice is "Putting It Together" - which is ok. since it has a small budget they would like that.. but I REALLY want Little Women.. so -
how do I convince them.. any ideas?
Currently Directing -

Re:My arguement to my Board... - 2007/02/19 01:09 I love Little Women so I'm with you!

Tell the board that LIttle Women is a classic tale known by all generations and is loved by young and old. The name alone will sell a bunch of tickets. People love the story and will come to see the musical. If this is true also mention that the mostly female cast will be good because you have more great women than men who will audition.
The opposite of Rent is Oklahoma!!! Why didn't I think of that?

Re:My arguement to my Board... - 2007/02/23 16:34 Money is a driving force in everything Because so many people love the story of Little Women, it would definitely be a good crowd draw.

It all comes down to butts in the seats, especially when your board doesn't know much about shows. Just be sure to mention it being a cash draw
