Beauty and the Beast! (with PICTURES!) - 2008/04/14 18:14GARHGH. I just typed this big thing and copied it, but then I accidentally copied something else in the meantime and it therefore disappeared. So I'll try a slightly condensed version.
Yesterday was our fourth and final performance of Beauty and the Beast. We did pretty amazingly with ticket sales- only about 400 on Thursday, but we sold out on Friday through Sunday in our 700ish seat auditorium. I had a great, great time doing this show. Being a Disney princess is a dream in any case, but I absolutely love the character of Belle and think I'm very similar to her. It was nothing short of amazing.
Of course, there were lots of people who said I did well (no, that's not a conceited thing, I'm just saying that parents and such always tell you that sort of thing after a show) but since most of the people were either my friends or family, it was nothing that could be trusted as accurate. But there were a few people who I really respect that told me how perfect I was and how well I did- people who wouldn't lie about that sort of thing, which was great to hear. But more than anything, our director told me that before this show, I hadn't even been on her radar and she wasn't considering me for the part at all, but when I came into auditions and read and sang, she knew I was perfect for it. She said that I made her proud and never let her down throughout this whole show- which was an amazing thing to hear, especially after I'd been doubting my abilities for such a long time. There are so many incredibly talented people in my school and I know I'm far from the best, but it was nice to know I was good enough. It meant so much to hear that.
Anyways, pictures! Posted as links because they refused to resize. The quality isn't great, but it's better than nothing. Also, please be nice about our lack of a gorgeous set- our school is ridiculously poor, and we spent tons of money on the costumes!
It is funny that you said that you liked the pink dress even more than the gold one because last night i was watching an interview on Youtube with Anneliese Van der pol (who played the last Belle on broadway) and she said that her favorite dress was the pink one! I do have to agree with you though, the pink one is really pretty!
It looked like you had lots of fun and i bet it was a great show!!! I hope one day i can be in a production of BATB (hopefully as Belle, but i would take any role!). -Laura
Favorite Musical: PHANTOM OF THE OPERA!!!!!!! As for more "happy" musicals i like BATB and Music Man (and lots of others, that i can't think of right now!)
Next production: R&H Cinderella?

Laura- Thanks! I was so happy we had decent costumes this year; in the past that's hardly ever been the case. That's really cool about Anneliese, too! I can definitely understand why most people like the gold dress the best- it's what people think of when they think of Belle, after all- but I LOVED the pink one.
Devyn- Thank you! Our Cogsworth was amazing and very, very talented- only a freshman, too. Actually, all of our guy leads except for the Beast (Gaston, Lefou, Cogsy, and Lumiere) were freshmen. Haha, I know you were probably referring to Cogsworth's costume and not him, I just though I'd say.
Bruce- But of course. I always keep promises. - Caitlin / Cait -

Re:Beauty and the Beast! (with PICTURES!) - 2008/04/17 20:44that last one IS beautiful! The costumes were great and loved all of your dresses. Your hair looked good, too, I remember you were worried about that
sounds like it was an amazing show. And I'm jealous of that Mrs. Potts costume, mine wasn't very spectacular -Ali

Re:Beauty and the Beast! (with PICTURES!) - 2008/04/18 15:58Ali- Thank you! My hair was so incredibly difficult to deal with, but I think it came out decent all in all. And I loved our Mrs. Potts costume too. Her arm was so sore by the end of it, though...
Jbug- I did have an amazing time. I'm sure I'll never forget it, but just in case, I just bought a HUGE photo album and filled it with almost 300 pictures of the show!- Caitlin / Cait -
