Resume and Vocal Range question - 2008/03/23 22:16 Hi! my vocal range is from the D that is two octaves below middle C to a high G and I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to put that I can sing that D? D two octaves below middle C i am pretty sure doesn't sound good and is incorrect. Also I posted in the audition forum that I am auditioning for little shop and had a question about casting that I didnt put in there. They are auditioning adults as well as teenagesrs (i am 17) and my dream roles are Audrey 2 and the dentist. They definitly have 4 adults auditioning. Do you think they could cast me as one of those two roles if they cast adults in other roles? Thank you so so much

Re:Resume and Vocal Range question - 2008/03/24 21:06 I know this won't help much, but they tend to have numbers next to a note name to tell what octave they are- like C4 or D6. I really can't tell you much more than that, but I'm sure SOMEONE on here must know! I'm Micaela. But you can call me Mickey!

Re:Resume and Vocal Range question - 2008/03/24 21:17 Most resumes just say Soprano, Mezzo, Alto, Tenor, etc. I just say Soprano with Belt. I don't put down exact notes because I don't want limitations. Let them ask me if they have a question about my range. Let them test me. Your job is to know what you are auditioning for and to sing a song that best represents the range and style of the character you are going after. If the show is original, they usually tell you to sing certain types of songs. If the show is a Rock show, sing a rock song. If the show is a legit show they will come out and say, please sing your best legit song in your range. So, if you have tenor on your resume, in that case, sing a tenor song.

Re:Resume and Vocal Range question - 2008/03/25 08:07 I would say that you are a Mezzo with a range from D2-G5. If you can belt, I would include that in your statement on the Audition form. Good luck with everything.
