Not only is it illegal to place your clip on You Tube, it is illegal to videotape it in the first place. Some people try to get around it by saying they are videotaping the show for "archival" purposes. They have people "pay" for them so there are enough out there in case something happens to the other 14 (nudge-nudge, wink-wink). In fact, it probably states as much in the
When your company bought the performance rights, they bought the ability to perform it before a life audience, nothing else. They could have bought the broadcast rights, but that would have cost more.
Keep in mind, everyone videotapes their shows and a lot place clips on You Tube. I can't imagine anyone ever getting sued for it, but you could.
As an aside, I put clips of a show that was in last summer and one of the cast members was very offended by it. I am not sure why, and I think he over-reacted, but the director called said "cast members are complaining" - they weren't, it was A cast member, but people are weird - AND theatre people are the weirdest!
