Re:The Swapping of Disney Musicals - 2007/07/12 08:25 I've actually never seen one live, but just going from what I've heard, The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast sound really good, and considering I LOVE Alan Menken, I can't wait for The Little Mermaid. I really hope it's staged well so that I can feel justified in being such a fan of Disney. Now if only Aladdin or Hunchback could make it to Broadway, then I'd be satisfied. Or maybe Pocahontas.

However, I'm glad Tarzan is closing. I've heard some of the music and didn't really care for it. I don't really like Mary Poppins either (as a whole), but I don't think I could judge the musical version without seeing it live.

Oh, and for the person who said that Disney is for kids - I guess in some aspects, it is, but at age 17 I renewed my old obsession for Disney animated movie musicals, and I'm now 18 and have no plans to stop my obsession soon. I'm hoping that when my university goes on winter break this December, I'll be able to take my second trip to NYC this year and go see The Little Mermaid.

Re:The Swapping of Disney Musicals - 2007/07/13 12:44 I've seen BatB twice on B'way and I'm sad that it's closing, but at the same time, Disney's overwhelming presence on B'way really irritates me. I saw the Lion King national tour and was probably the only audience member who HATED it. It was SO tacky!

As I said, I love BatB. And Aida has great music, although I've never seen it. But seriously, Little Mermaid?! The film is good, but it's so cartoony and I can't see Disney making it any less cartoony on stage. But I could be wrong.
Current role: none
Recent roles: The Stingiest Man In Town [ensemble], Bye Bye Birdie! [ensemble/Ed Sullivan], High School Musical [Troy. Don't judge me.]
Dream role: Toby in Sweeney Todd, Billy Flynn in Chicago
Upcoming auditions: Jekyll and Hyde, Grease

Re:The Swapping of Disney Musicals - 2007/08/27 20:31 Yeah I was really sad to see BatB go. It was also my brother and sisters' 1st "real" musical. I Rent a Wicked apartment on Avenue Q! (Unfortunatly, it's haunted by a Phantom)

Re:The Swapping of Disney Musicals - 2007/08/27 20:52 I can't stand Lion King OR Tarzan. And I'm not looking forward to Little Mermaid. Boy, I'm just a ray of sunshine aren't I? Name: Devyn

Re:The Swapping of Disney Musicals - 2007/08/27 21:52 even if it didn't replace BatB, I still wouldn't be all that thrilled I Rent a Wicked apartment on Avenue Q! (Unfortunatly, it's haunted by a Phantom)
