When people ask me what HSM is, I usually respond with "Grease for kids". I guess the similarities go as for as the fact that Disney is making a second HSM due to come out in August.Corey

Grease, though isn't one of my favorite musicals, I do like, and I hold a much higher respect to HSM. HSM in my opinion is highly overrated. And I hate how Stupid little preppy teen girls think that they are "all in to musicals" becuase they can sing songs from an "musical" which was poorly written.

Re:Grease vs HSM - 2007/08/04 14:17Wow. I never really thought about the similarities until now; but it is really, as you said, just a Grease for kids. Weird that I never caught that; Grease is one of my favs.
Id have to say I liked HSM okay, and was even in a production of it for tourneys, but Grease is just too classic to set aside that quickly. I'd still choose Grease over HSM any day. And honestly, I am not looking forward to the sequel at all. It'll definitely be a stretch.
I am glad that they are going to make HSM into a theatre production though..: Valerie :.

Re:Grease vs HSM - 2007/08/05 14:31I don't think High School Musical is trying to be Grease. I don't even think it is trying to be "quality theatre" for that matter... It is a feel good musical that has a good moral. What else can you expect out of Disney?
Grease on the other hand. I respect it, but I hate it. Our school is doing it next year. It was between Grease and Pippin. (pippin is my favorite show. They picked Grease, bleck.

But I do agree with the Grase is similar to HSM thing. It's kind of the same story, only Grease is a zillion times better!Jessica
