Defying Gravity (New Version) - 2007/05/09 17:20Ok, so I was on another forum and saw that Idina Menzel made a new version of the song "Defying Gravity" It is just her singing, it's not a remix of the original song, and I want you all to hear it. I personally love it and am probably going to use it as a liturgical dance or something. Anyways, here's the link to the song on YouTube!

Re:Defying Gravity (New Version) - 2007/05/09 17:33I'm sorry.... I don't like it! I don't know what it is, I guess without the dramatic urgency of it, I'm just not feeling it._____________ Kris MTA Admin

Re:Defying Gravity (New Version) - 2007/05/09 21:16It wasn't my favorite. I didn't mind the beginning, but I agree with Kris...it just doesn't quite pull me in. It's not a song I would listen to over and over again. And the end where she switchs to lyrics from The Wizard and I...I don't like that part at all! Jennifer

Re:Defying Gravity (New Version) - 2007/05/10 15:57I listened to the first 30 seconds and then had to turn it off. It sounds very robotic and mechanically enhanced, a la Britney Spears, which really doesn't make any sense, since normally I think Idina has a very lovely voice.----------Emily----------

Re:Defying Gravity (New Version) - 2007/05/10 19:20I guess it's ok if you're into that sort of techno-ey sound, but frankly I thought it was boring. I think that it has lost all the emotion and beauty of the original and I agree that it sounds very robotic. The song basically goes nowhere...I'm not sure why Idina Menzel would want to do this. I bet dollar signs were in the picture though.Current Show: Coppelia (Swanhilda's friend) Shows in the Last Year: The Nutcracker(Spanish Chocolate, The Prissy Doll) Little Shop of Horrors (Ronnette), Ragtime (Evelyn Nesbit), Urinetown (Little Sally), Schoolhouse Rock Live (Dori),

Re:Defying Gravity (New Version) - 2007/05/10 21:52I was on her website and I heard this. I could never finish it but now I have and I just don't love it. I see no reason for the remix anyway, like what was its point? Perhaps dollar sign were in the picture Didn't particularily like the insert of Wizard and I lyrics either. So all in all not awful, but not my style. The opposite of Rent is Oklahoma!!! Why didn't I think of that?

Re:Defying Gravity (New Version) - 2007/05/12 16:27Hmmm...not my favorite. It lacks emotion or something. I can't place it but I agree that it sounds mechanical. It's kind of odd for Idina though because she's such a powerful actor, I was expecting something a little more.

Re:Defying Gravity (New Version) - 2007/05/12 19:34Eh...there were good parts, but mostly, I didn't like it. She sounded kind of nasal-y....a little robotic like everyone else said. And I have to say, I HATED the very last note. But I'm not *completely* against it.•••♥♫♥••• faith

Re:Defying Gravity (New Version) - 2007/07/22 12:12My Gosh, I am really against this. You guys are completely right. It sounds robotic and too techo-y. She doesn't need to adjust her voice with all the recording stuff sucky artists use, she has a lovely voice without all of that. I like her voice MUCH better au natural.Jessica

Re:Defying Gravity (New Version) - 2007/07/22 20:45My first listen was in disgust, but its growing on me. What you said about a liturgical dance or something, i think it would be an amazing song for that. The switch in lyrics is a bit annoying, but i suppose i can get over it. hahaHi! I'm Amanda Dance is my first love.. but Musical Theatre is a close second.
