Re:This one's for you kris... - 2007/01/29 18:39 I thought there already was an Anne of Green Gables musical? I'm like 85% sure I saw one when I was on vacation on Prince Edward Island when I was about ten years old, but then again that was like 11 years ago, so I could be confused... ----------Emily----------

Currently rehearsing:
Urleen - Footloose
Favorite Roles:
Aida - AIida[i], Joanie Lish - [i]The Full Monty, Carmen - Sweet Charity, Crystal - Little Shop of Horrors, Sarah's Friend - Ragtime, Little Red Riding Hood - Into the Woods, Evillene - The Wiz

Re:This one's for you kris... - 2007/01/29 18:52 i know for a fact that Anne of Green Gables is already a musical...i was in it two years ago...i played Gertie Pye and was the understudy for Anne...and yes, it has been playing in PEI for years and its the first musical to ever be produced and created entirely in Canada (us Canucks are very proud of our Anne!)

so maybe this is a new one?? like a different take on the story? but i don't really see how you can change Anne of Green Gables, or why you would want to. its already such a fun show so why mess with a good thing?
Nikki!!
currently rehearsing: Lady Viola/Cesario (Twelfth Night), Joan of Arc (a raisin in the sun)

Re:This one's for you kris... - 2007/01/29 19:21 Yes, this is a new musical version. Just the way there are multiple versions of A Christmas Carol and The Phantom Of The Opera... someone's decided to make a new version of this one.

I like the original one... I'll have to listen to this one to see how this measures up!

Re:This one's for you kris... - 2007/01/29 21:40 ........while we're on the subject.........i personally don't like the redos of POTO. They just dumb it down, and it takes the beauty away from the story. Or maybe I just love Michael Crawford too much *´¨)

Re:This one's for you kris... - 2007/01/29 21:55 This looks like it could be good. Maybe I'll get to go see it. Is it just me, or does Anne look a little too old on that site? CURRENT ROLE: Liesl/Maria understudy in The Sound of Music
Director for Into the Woods Jr.

I don't think that's what Kris meant. I believe she was referring to the Ken Hill musical The Phantom of the Opera and the Yeston/Kopit musical Phantom, which are based on the same novel as the ALW show.

Re:This one's for you kris... - 2007/01/30 20:42 That was what I meant, but I think Annie was talking about the same thing. Making a new production of ALW's version wouldn't change the story. _____________

Re:This one's for you kris... - 2007/02/01 21:11 This seems pretty cool, although I don't know much about the original.

(Bekki, I swear when I saw this I thought it was going to be something about Harry Connick Jr. Ah, Tonys memories.)
