Yes! Truthfully I don't have a lot of faith in this (even as a HP fan) and am frightened for Broadway (if this rumor happens to be true - wouldn't be surprised, there's even a HP theme park in the works!)Name: Devyn

Re:Harry Potter the Musical? - 2007/11/26 12:02I kind of hate to admit it because I'm afraid of the the tomatoes that might be thrown but I'm kind of excited. I love Harry Potter and if they do it right, it might be kind of cool. But it won't ruin Harry Potter, even if the result is kind of shoddy. Harry Potter is not able to be ruined. It's that magical. :]Upcoming: US Performing Arts Camps Currently: Henrietta (Honk Jr.!) Nessarose (MdN's Wicked) Enjolras (ENG)/Eponine (FREN) (Les Miz Online Cast Recording) Past: Godspell/Mamma Mia Soloist (Broadway Babies) Mrs. Johnson (Bye Bye Birdie)

I saw LOTR in London. It was fantastic, but then again, that's just me. I think it'd be pretty popular. I'd go see it!
The thing that I did NOT like about LOTR was they did combine all three movies/books together into a three hour musical, but I still loved it. It'd be near impossible to do that with Harry Potter. They'd have to take out a lot and juts focus on every time he faces Voldemort which would be annoying. I know that i'd be frustrated if they adapted or cut out some stuff, so I think that'd be it. But hell, it's so popular, why not bring it to the stage! I think it's a cool idea. Don't hate me..please!

Re:Harry Potter the Musical? - 2007/11/26 15:25If they decide to make a Harry Potter musical, i think they should focus on the last two books in the series. They are perhaps the most informative, dramatic books in the series. Maybe at the beginning, they have a little montage or something about Harry's life before hogwarts and and then the next few years. They can make a song out of it and then after a bit go right into the last two books or just the last one. For example, at the beginning of Wicked, they talk about Elphaba being born, you know, her beginnings. Something like that would be neat. :]Upcoming: US Performing Arts Camps Currently: Henrietta (Honk Jr.!) Nessarose (MdN's Wicked) Enjolras (ENG)/Eponine (FREN) (Les Miz Online Cast Recording) Past: Godspell/Mamma Mia Soloist (Broadway Babies) Mrs. Johnson (Bye Bye Birdie)

Re:Harry Potter the Musical? - 2007/11/28 15:21Thefre is no way the can fit the plot in to a musical so I wonder what they'll do but hey with LOTR the music was a disator but teh set costume aspect was absolutely stunning I'd say it would go like that with Harry Potter. Harry Potter will make probably a bad musical but I will go see it I honestly could do with a good laugh.
but then again legally blond was much better than expected....Currently Combeferre

Re:Harry Potter the Musical? - 2008/01/10 14:38I think the special effects are the least of their worries. If we recall Merlin the Musical, that show had AWESOME special effects. However, the story (or lack of one) was the killer. Like Harry Potter, the whole concept of Merlin was an extremely popular one, but once the show actually came out, it was disappointed. It would be an egregious mistake to put all of the books into one show, but I think it would also be weird to start in the middle of the story.
I don't know, haha. My favorite book was the first one, because it was the one that gave us the greatest look into the life of being a student at Hogwarts with the classroom scenes and whatnot. I think if a musical were to be made from HP, I would like to see the first book Micah--- [Not the boy who lives next door] Current Role: The Baker in Into the Woods!!!!!

Haha, just laughing at that because now there actually is an HP theme park in the works!!
And I hope this is true...do we know yet? Despite the fact the sotry wouldn't be good, the music could be really fun for an HP fan...and a "dancing Lucius Malfoy" would be heaven!! I want this to be true, just because I think it could be really funny and possibly good. It'd be cute!! If it is true I'd rather they just picked one main storyline and did it...condensing 7 years into one show would be hard and would come out badly.
