The Phantom of Manhattan - 2007/06/15 22:57This is kind of old news, but I want to know what you all think about this.
Andrew Lloyd Webber announced a couple months ago that he would be making a sequel to Phantom of the Opera: "The Phantom of Manhattan". Based on the book by Frederick Forsyth.
Seriously. I love him and everything. But. Come on. Why????????????
I haven't read the book though, so I don't know what the plot is. Has anyone read it?

I really think this isnt a good idea. Sequals to musicals don't usually last long. Bring Back Birdie was on stage for 4 days and it closed (LOL). Let sleeping dogs lie-- if he really is just doing it for the money, then he should just write a whole new story. or put music to an old story. Phantom is too perfect to touch. everyone isnt dead or extremely old yet (meaning raoul and christine and the phantom) and christine and raoul are living in NY and they have a kid named pierre or somthin who is amazing at singing. so the phantom wants to go to NY to make an opera house just so he can see christine again................. aaw. but pretty weird and thin plot.... i really hope it wont kill the original.
ALW also claims that he just HAS to make a new musical or he'll go mad. so maybe he doesnt think it'll get far, but he just wants to work on something for a while.*´¨) ¸.•´¸.•*´¨) ¸.•*¨) (¸.•´ (¸.•´ Annie
