choosing a musical - 2007/05/28 18:15I am a part of a college theatre group at my church and we are considering doing a musical for our next show. We are all throwing out suggestions, but we have quite a few restrictions. It needs to have minimal or easy choreography, be for actors & actresses aged 18-25, fairly clean (we are a church but in the past we have gotten away with doing Rumors which has a lot of expletives and innuendo), and it has to have one set or minimal set changes because we are basically converting our MPR into a stage. Any suggestions you could give would be welcome! Thanks.Danielle

honk! i do like it better when done w/ a small cast (4men, 4women, 4 "kids") but it can be expanded

Re:choosing a musical - 2007/06/17 13:54we're doing a straight play right now and i am playing a "teenager" even thought i am nearly 20. the other characters are in their late 20s to early 40s and are all played by 19-24 year olds. so the age of the characters isn't so much an issue. we just need to be able to believably play them.Danielle

-It can be performed by any age group, and was originally performed by a group about your age.
-The set is minimal, and the only changes are when cast members move something. It's all stuff like sawhorses, a table, a washtub, etc, so one or two can move it. The rest is stationary.
-The script is not hard to find. I randomly found it online one day. And the entire score is not very expensive.
YAGM,CB is also onethat can be done with a minimal set. All you need is some benches, a short wall, a tree, Snoppy's house, stuff like that. The same background can be used, and it's usually an outside scene.Maddy, aka minesayrejoice, GreenGirl, GavrocheGrrl, EriksWife (Erik'swife), and jewelkat.
