I am performing in a "community musical" the first weekend in June. Basically it's an original show that is a parody of the history of the town where I live, and it's the kind of show where everyone who showed up at auditions gets a part...it just depends on how large of a part.  I got a solo part, but my solo was only 4 lines long...and other people have whole songs. I figured this was because 1) I haven't done a show with them before so they haven't really seen my abilities, and 2) I was nervous at my audition and didn't really "shine" like I wish I had. But I was okay with this because some people who auditioned didn't get any singing parts.
Anyway, tonight at rehearsal I was singing my part and afterwards the director said, "your part isn't big enough." And she increased by part by 4 more lines! I know that it is only 8 lines total now, but she basically said that I was doing such a good job and singing so well that she wanted to hear me sing more in the show! I'm so excited, because this show is really introducing me to the major people of this theatre company. The director of this show directs a lot of the shows they put on during the year. So I'm just glad she was impressed enough to increase my part!!
