Drama Club - 2007/03/13 17:06 This has nothing to do with musical theatre, however it is still very exciting. Today (after having found out about this yesterday), I went to our drama instructor's room to pick up an audition sheet. The first exciting thing here is that there is actually no audition required! Everyone that has shown up thus far is going to be involved, including me! The other exciting thing is the format of the show: we are going to present thirty plays (written ourselves) in sixty minutes. The audience, as they enter the theatre, will get a sheet with the numbers on it--no titles--and they will choose the order in which they want to see the plays. We will then have maybe a minute or two for preparation and then we perform! This is also very neat because it's my first experience with this particular drama club. Caitlin

Credits:

Opera:
Rusalka (Dancing Chorus)

Non-Musical:
Pygmalion (Mrs. Pearce)
Three Tales from Japan (Kimi-chan, Fish, Ogre)
Keeper of the Tales (Parrot, Seema)

Musical:
Anything Goes (Wealthy Daughter, Ensemble)

Re:Drama Club - 2007/03/13 19:21 Wow that seems so cool! My school's drama club doesn't do anything like that and also doesn't meet during the play or musical.

Good luck at memorizing all the lines and not getting them confused! (If I was doing it I might)
The opposite of Rent is Oklahoma!!! Why didn't I think of that?

Re:Drama Club - 2007/03/14 09:40 Yeah, that's very cool! For any of you in the Chicago area, there's a theater group called the NeoFuturists who present 30 plays in 30 minutes, a show they call "Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind." The fun thing is, if they go over the time limit, they order out for pizza for the entire audience. Maybe you guys could add a twist like that. (Ha ha.) -- Kari

Re:Drama Club - 2007/03/14 11:35 Wow, that sounds really cool!

My school doesn't even have a drama club... they're kind of arts-phobic, which is a shame.

That's so neat that you know about the NeoFuturists, because that's where the idea of our show originated! Also, we do have a similar twist--if we sell out, we order pizza for ourselves.

Re:Drama Club - 2007/03/24 21:33 Our Drama Club's called the "Non-existent Drama Department" because we get no funding at all, and the students barely know that there is one

But it's wicked fun!

Re:Drama Club - 2007/03/25 21:55 Ohh those are so much fun! every year my high school does a show called "comedy fest." basically it's like SNL, but we write all of the skits. A few of the years they did 30 plays in 60 minutes, and it was awesome. I hope you have fun with this! *Stephanie*

Favorite roles:

The Cat in The Hat in Seussical
