Re:Best Movie/ Musicals - 2007/12/31 00:02 I LOVE THE MOVIE OF POTO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I loved the WHOLE cast especially Emmy and Gerry who played Christine and Phantom! I can't wait till i see it in person in May!!!!!!!! I also love the version of Annie with Carol Burnett as Ms. Hannigan! Another one is R&H Cinderella with Brandy, though it is usually critized for "bad acting" but i did love Bernadette Peters as the Stepmother and i loved the costumes and sets! I also love Grease!!!!!!! Favorite Shows: POTO, Wicked, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Legally Blonde, Hairspray, BATB, Music Man and more!

Currently in: R&H's Cinderella as a Stepsister!

Re:Best Movie/ Musicals - 2007/12/31 01:01 i agree with you 100% another great movie musical is sound of music bernedette peters is my hereo! i love her she is so amazing in what ever she does! i also love howard keel! when i think of my childhood i see 7 brides for 7 brothers! i love carousel the movie is amazing! also another movie musical to consider is 42nd street the movie was made in like the 1940s and then was later transfered to the stage! may i just say that barbera striesand (spelling) is amazing she has never sung anything above a middle g yet somehow it sounds like she has a killer range. she was amazing in funny girl. back to howard keel what do you think of showboat? it is one of my mother's favorite musicals, but it seems to be one of his lesser known works. has anyone ever heard barbera striesand's recording of the song being alive it is one of her best recordings in my opionion (spelling).

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that on the movie of FotR, they seem to really slow down the dialogue during songs? (Like at the beginning when Tevye is explaining the traditions and such...) I was listening to the movie cast's "Tradition" earlier, and that really bugged me.

you...wanna know...how...we keep our balance?..............................tra....dition! (Or some such thing)

Yeah, I notice that too. sigh.

I've never seen 'Chicago' onstage, but when you look for people actually performing 'Cell Block Tango' on youtube, they're all videos of girls prancing around in fishnets and lipsynching to the track from the movie. Uhm, is actual singing dead? I do love the song, though- 'so I took the shotgun off the wall and fired two warning shots- into his head'

Currently:
-Sheila; Boys Next Door (postshow depression mode)
-acceptance to acting ensemble
-Bye Bye Birdie (audition- didn't get a callback)

Um, I adore Showboat. I can't believe I forgot about it. "Ol' Man River" is one of those songs that just shakes you to the core. I'm obsessed with Howard Keel. Plus, whoever played Julie in the movie was phenominal. I loved hearing her sing "Bill" and "Can't help lovin' dat man" Such great songs. I've never seen it on stage though, so, I don't have much to compare it to.

I just realized I have't seen the Sound of Music movie. I have to go rent it now.

And I liked rent. I didn't think it was that different from the show and I like Rosario Dawson's voice more than Daphne Rubin-Vega's. I think the movie was good because they used the OBC(most of it anyway) and the OBC got much better with time. All together very good.

Hehe... if you listen to the OBCR Anthony sounds so nasally compared to the movie soundtrack...but he still is awesome.

Re:Best Movie/ Musicals - 2008/01/04 21:51 I LOVE SINGING IN THE RAIN! But I'm all for Donald O'Connor!

I also like Sound of Music very much and I recently saw Sweeney Todd and thought that was really good!

Although I have issues with Lovett's voice and Anthony's extremely long hair (I thought he the Old Beggar Woman when I first saw him )
"Doctor Who, Doctor Who, does whatever a doctor can do.."

PREVIOUSLY: Sister Magaretta in The Sound Of Music

CURRENTLY: Les Misérables directed by Ivan Rutherford ))

UP COMING: Senior Ensemble's next show
