Re:Center Stage Club Assignment #4 - 2007/02/17 18:04 Hmmmm........ just one........

I think I might do Kiss Me, Kate. I've only heard one song from it (Wunderbar) and didn't like it, but I'll keep listening.

Re:Center Stage Club Assignment #4 - 2007/02/17 18:44 I'm think I'm going to start with Avenue Q. I've heard a ot of people say it's good, but have never heard any songs or anything from it. The opposite of Rent is Oklahoma!!! Why didn't I think of that?

Re:Center Stage Club Assignment #4 - 2007/02/18 10:43 I'm also going to do Kiss Me Kate. I actually like some of the songs but know nothing about the story or any of the characters.

By the way.....I haven't been here for a bit but I'm not dead I've just got so much going on its difficult to be here but I'll try to be here more often

Re:Center Stage Club Assignment #4 - 2007/02/18 11:18 Great choice girls! Kiss Me Kate is a great show! It's one of the first shows I was ever in, actually, as a dancer. I got to dance with a big jester hat on, which was fun except it really messed with my balance during the taruntala (sp?) turns.... but I digress.

Please let me know what shows you have chosen to study, and I will do my best to make sure that our pages for those shows have lots of links and things on them to get you started! I've just added some things to the Kiss Me Kate pages.

Re:Center Stage Club Assignment #4 - 2007/02/18 12:23 I've actually chosen two shows: Dessa Rose and Reefer Madness. My school's varsity show choir is doing "Down at the Ol' Five and Dime" (from Reefer Madness) as the closer for their show this year, and I saw the sheet music for Dessa Rose at the local music store yesterday, so I decided I'd choose those two shows. I'm making progress on both... Caitlin

Re:Center Stage Club Assignment #4 - 2007/02/18 23:07 Hmmm, I think I will do the Color Purple. I've heard that it's great, but I've never had any real inclination to take a look at it. Now I do. Hey yo!
Let's go to the mo-fro (Melody Freeze),
To get a fro yo (frozen yogurt),
then we'll stop by the scho-sho (Scholorshop),
on our way to WYSO (World Youth Symphony Orchestra)!

Just a little saying from Interlochen, possibly one of the greatest places on the globe!

Re:Center Stage Club Assignment #4 - 2007/02/22 20:38 I'll do two. (call me crazy, you'll see why)

I know of nothing from either Rent or Wicked except a few songs, so that's what I'm doing. I'll rent the movie Rent and read Wicked, as well as Wikipedia both!
Melchi Gabor, he's such a radical!!!

Re:Center Stage Club Assignment #4 - 2007/02/22 21:31 ^^ Well, the book Wicked isn't like the musical that much. There's a bunch of different characters, and other little events that happen, it's much different than the show. And there's some pretty adult themed stuff in there..... *´¨)

That doesn't mean it isn't worth reading. Understanding the source behind a musical is always helpful - it gives you additional insight into the plot and characters.

And there's some pretty adult themed stuff in there.....

Quite a few of us here are adults, you know.
