First Steps For New Members - 2007/01/11 01:44
Joining a new online community can be overwhelming, so we've put together some starting points for our new members. None of these things are mandatory of course, but they will help others get to know you and you'll have the chance to see how some of our site features work.
1) Go to the profile manager and edit your profile. Here you can create a forum signature, upload an avatar, and even create a brief resume.
2) Consider putting your first name (or however you'd like to be referred to) in your signature. It's easier to have a conversation when you know people's names.
3) Complete the new member questionnaire and post it in the intro forum as a new thread, as your official introduction. We get many new members to the site, but not all of them are active in the forum, so posting this questionnaire will let us know you're here.
We've got a very strong community here, and like any other group it takes time to feel like you "belong". Spend a little more time reading than posting at the beginning, and you'll get a better feel for our atmosphere.
