I sang "Adelaide's Lament" for Adelaide and got Sarah Brown in guys and dolls
I sang "Matchmaker" for Hodel and got chorus in fiddler
I also sang "How Lovely To Be A Woman" for anyone, really, (they never specified roles.) and got chorus in bye bye birdie.
The last three I had to sing selections from the show.I'm Micaela. But you can call me Mickey!
Currently: Taking a much needed BREAK!

I sang "I cain't say no" for Gertie or Ado Annie (wasn't going to happen) in Oklahoma! and got Vivian (aka chorus), but i am also the "unofficial understudies" of Ado Annie and (as of today) Gertie!
My theatre company allows us to sing songs from the musical, and after 2 weeks of freaking out, trying to find the perfect audition song, my sister encouraged me to sing, "I cain't say no", and i am glad i did!!! Favorite Shows: POTO, Wicked, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Legally Blonde, Hairspray, BATB, Music Man and more!
Currently in: R&H's Cinderella as a Stepsister!

Re:i Sang___for__ and got ____ - 2008/04/09 11:42The CT that I audition for must not be very sophshicated because they say, "we will teach you a song when you get here, BUT:
1. I sang "I'll do anything" and got the part of "Mr. Sowerberry" (Oliver). They told us to sing that.
2. I sang "The Merry Old Land of Oz" and got the part of the Wizard (Wizard of Oz). I am not sure what that says about my singing, but they told us to sing that.
3. I sang Solla Sollew and got the part of The Mayor in Seussical (maybe my singing is getting better - maybe there wasn't very many people auditioning). That was the only time I had a piece prepared.
Oh, wait, I auditioned for Pirates singing "Modern Major General". I got called back, and was the only one who could make it through the 32 bars without making a mistake. 4 guys auditioned, the show was double cast - guess who didn't get a part? Weird, huh? Do you think that the show MAY NOT have been pre-cast, but the director KNEW in advance who she was going to put in that role? I am not sure how that is different that precast, but I assume it is! Can you tell I am a little steamed about that still?

I sang "Meet Me in St. Louis" for Liesl in Sound of Music, and got Maria.
I sang "My Heart Belongs to Daddy" for Sweet Charity and got Charity.
And the weirdest one:
I auditioned for an opera/MT scenes program with an aria from L'italiana in Algeri, and was cast as Adelaide in a reduced version of Guys and Dolls. (I did have a really bad head cold at the time...)
