The Theatre Performer's Essentials - 2008/04/19 20:42What are some of your essential, must-have items? Don't have to be theatre related. But these are items that you have to have with you at the theatre.
Mine: Sharpie (for autographs) Hand Sanitizer Tide to go pen (because I am a very messy person) Travel-sized deodorant/ perfume Any sort of mint Tea bag, sugar, and honey packet (Because if there is water and a microwave around, you can bet I'll be making tea.) Water bottle Hard Candy (To suck on before the show) Extra Tights and Shoes Script (Even on closing night) Air Freshener Baby Wipes (To get off makeup quickly) Condoms (To protect mics from sweat)Rehearsing For- Meet Me in St. Louis (Ensemble)
Possibly Auditioning For- Bye Bye Birdie (Hoping for Kim for Ursula)

The only things I really must always have is Bobby Pins and Safety Pins, because our theatre, no matter how many packages we buy, never has any sitting around to use.

(my lips get so chapped after having all that lipstick on them and i love anything minty) -tissues, cotton balls, q-tips (for makeup) -Hair brush, bobby pins, ponytail holders-Laura
Favorite Musical: PHANTOM OF THE OPERA!!!!!!! As for more "happy" musicals i like BATB and Music Man (and lots of others, that i can't think of right now!)

I also carry around a mint can with everything from Tylenol to Benadryl to Heavy Duty Pain meds because you never know whats going to happen. (I broke my baby toe in between shows for B&B and out beast sprained his ankle, yay pain meds)
Also Vodka. If you put it in a spray bottle and spray it on costumes it gets the smell out. (especially good for long runs)Rehearsing For- Meet Me in St. Louis (Ensemble)

The scene order thing is a lifesaver, too. I was in a show chock-full of flashbacks and it was the companion to my bible (script)-Ali
