Re:Goofs on Stage! - 2008/03/03 20:47 ^Haha, it was ridiculous. And you could hear people in the audience whispering "she can't find the middle of the curtain!" so I just gave up and left. - Caitlin / Cait -

In Pirates of Penzance, the pirates had soooooooo many swords (plastic ones) break. Also the daughters chorus, had fake candles with glass light bulps, we would break like 4 of those in one rehearsal, (accidently of course!) The cast accidently broke a LOT of other things in rehearsals, actually. (we had a lot of glass props)

Re:Goofs on Stage! - 2008/03/17 17:26 When I was the White Witch in Narnia, my first entrance was in a sleigh being pulled by two actors playing reindeer. It was closed along the sides and opened at the front behingthe reindeer. It was really cool but we'd only had a few rehearsals to work with it. So on opening night, I'm trying to gett out of the sleigh but the reindeer wouldn't let go of the reins and I was trapped. So with my long dress it took me like 5 tries and I finally tripped my way out of the sleigh. I barely avoided landng flat on my face. I covered it by grumbling "stupid reindeer", which was partly in character and partly what was actually going through my head at the time. I ended up getting a ton of laughs.

Also, for the dress rehearsal of A Christmas Carol my dress fell completely to my waist but I couldn't really feel it so I just stayed in character cuz I thought it had just fallen a bit lower off my shoulders. Ya, I was wrong. Good thing I was wearing a corset!

Re:Goofs on Stage! - 2008/03/17 23:09 Recently in our production of Beauty and Beast, we had an amazing run... but QUITE a few goofs!
The biggest ones were during our last performance of Be Our Guest. One of the plates completely snapped in half! The audience thought it was hilarious. He just kept dancing with that half of a plate. Then in the second half of the song, one of the napkin's ballet slippers flew off into the pit orchestra and hit a flute!
It was a crazyyyy night. but we ended up getting a standing ovation after be our guest!

Re:Goofs on Stage! - 2008/03/18 16:43 For Boys Next Door today, the front door had broken in tech so the SM put on another 'front door' that we'd never used.

It swung the wrong way.

I was standing behind it with my flowers and a huge grin and Parker opens the door, not paying attention, and whacks me right in the face. Luckily it was in character and the audience laughed. Also, no one else made the same mistake the rest of the show.

And then there was the time I used masking tape to hold up my strapless bra because it was too big and halfway through strapping on the tape before a dance number I realized the house could see me- hey, I was very very rushed.

Re:Goofs on Stage! - 2008/03/18 19:20 In my last show, I was the very last person to enter the stage, about three minutes after everyone else. We entered through a door that was kinda old. So on our third night or so, I went to open the door- and it wouldn't budge. Meanwhile, everyone on stage had to do crazy seventies dancing. So I'm trying to shove the door without making any noise. Then I realised that the metal keyhole part of the door had come unscrewed and was in front of the wall. So I just pushed it back and walked on.

During that same production, our last night, I just completely fell over. I had to walk down a short flight of steps while talking to someone across the room, and I missed a step. I nearly sprained my ankle, but caught myself.
Auditioning for: Brigadoon, theatre season, American Music Theatre, Into the Woods, Sound of Music, and AMDA.

Re:Goofs on Stage! - 2008/03/19 10:54 In 8th grade I played the dragon in "Knights of the Rad Table" (don't worry no one's heard of it). I had this really elaborate costume that we rented (I started a "Donate a Dollar for the Dragon" fund). So right in the middle of a performance I was carrying one of the damsels across the stage when the head of the costume fell off and I dropped her on her butt, looked at the audience like a deer in headlights, and then grabbed my head and ran off stage.

Re:Goofs on Stage! - 2008/03/23 18:48 These are all hilarious!

I just finished a production of AIDA, and on opening night the entire climax scene was crazy! When Mereb and Aida were supposed to be helping Amonasro off the boat, our Amonasro nearly fell out of it.

We thought we had averted a crisis until just a bit later...Zoser runs in and sees that the Nubian King is trying to escape, and he tries to attack, but Mereb pulls out a sword and fights him and that's when Zoser is supposed to kill Mereb. Well, Mereb's sword hit Zoser's at just the right angle, and the entire sword busted in half! Zoser had nothing left in his hand but the sword's hilt...there was no blade! Thankfully our Zoser thought quickly and grabbed another sword to kill Mereb with...but we in the wings couldn't stop laughing!

The joys of live theatre, right?

Re:Goofs on Stage! - 2008/03/26 16:39 In BatB,when I was the pepper during one of our techs I missed half of Be Our Guest since our greenrooms are soundproof and a couple feet away from the theatre! Thank goodness i made it out before my dance duet with the salt! I Rent a Wicked apartment on Avenue Q! (Unfortunatly, it's haunted by a Phantom)

Re:Goofs on Stage! - 2008/03/30 06:52 Just last night in the Wizard of Oz, we used a real Toto, and real chicks at the beginning when the incubator goes bad and the dog wanted to go after them so badly. Even when i would sing Over the Rainbow, he would be eyeing them down. So theres this one part where he has to run out to me after he escapes from Miss Gultch and he ran right through my arms to the chicks across the stage. I covered by saying "Toto get away from those chicks!!" and the audience clapped and laughed. "Toto, you're a very silly dog, but .. " then i went back into the lines. It was so funny but during intermission all the directors came backstage and said GOOD COVERUP, VERY MATURE, MADE THE BEST SHOW EVEN BETTER!!

Good times!!!
