Young Frankenstein - 2008/03/12 18:29 I know this didn't get the greatest of reviews at first (still good reviews, though), but i need some questions to be answered...
[i have not seen the movie yet, am waiting until after i see it on Broadway to watch the movie]

is it spectacular? is it funny? does it get too "Mel Brooks" ever at any point in the show? and who comes out after the performances? how long does it take for them to come out after the performances?

or just general reviews of it would be nice. i'm seeing it on the 29th, and well, i love this cast so much i want to meet EVERYBODY. but i heard a sad rumor Sutton doesn't come out after the show.

Tell me it's not true.

Dream Roles that I have NO CHANCE of Getting Because of Something i Have no control over: Ulla from the Producers or Inga from Young Frankenstein (neither tall nor blonde - such a shame too, because this is one of my favorite "character roles" to play), Igor from Young Frankenstein (i'm no man, no matter how many times i play one), Gary Coleman from Avenue Q (skin color)

Re:Young Frankenstein - 2008/03/12 21:06 I really, really loved the show! It's pretty amazing, and I would tell you about it, but I would go on and on. I wrote a review of it that's on the website, though, so If you go on my profile, or to "Show Reviews'," you should be able to find it.

Peace!

Re:Young Frankenstein - 2008/03/12 23:41 After Broadway performances, you have to find the "Stage Door" to the theatre ASAP. Some actors just run out and if you aren't there to catch them, they just go on their way. They don't come out to meet the audience at the door, they are tired or hungry and have to catch a ride or meet friends that they planned in advance to meet after the show. It's not like many community theatre shows or school shows where the cast comes out in costume to meet and greet.

I don't know which theatre "Y.F." is playing, but at some Broadway Theatres the Stage Door is not easy to find. Sometimes they are in alleys that are kind of closed off and you have to know where it is to make it. Sometimes the door is right there on the street. My advice is to find the door before you watch the show. As soon as the curtain comes down, get there.

Would it ever just be the back door to the theatre?? idk. i need to meet Roger Bart! He is amazing! ~ Kaitlin ~ Always Rockin The Boat ~

Re:Young Frankenstein - 2008/03/13 18:25 Oh I love Roger Bart!!! But anyway...

When I saw it in Seattle, Roger Bart was I think the third to come out(regretfully I wasn't fast enough for Sutton...I had a poster to get!) He came out after Andrea I think, and they didn't all come out at once. Only one person came out a time...like Adrian was done signing and left and a few minutes later out came Roger!! So if you have a little trouble I think you'd be fine.

And the show is great!! Mel Brooks is always hilarious, so you'll laugh. I think the song "He vas my boyfriend" might get 'too Mel Brooks' if I understand what you mean correctly. It's incredibly entertaining nonetheless!!! I absolutely loved it!

Oh and another suggestion on finding the stage door is uh...watching where other people go after the show. That's how I got the the other stage door in time! I saw a bunch of people hurrying one way and realized I had seen a door there when coming in. So yeah I ran as fast as I could!!

Re:Young Frankenstein - 2008/03/19 17:12 Yeah, i totally wasn't expecting a lot because I had heard such mixed reviews of this show...but i ended up LOVING it!! First of all, i had no idea that it had so much dancing in it! It is a great ensemble show, and the dancing is terrific. The jokes, at the beginning, might strike you as a little bit too "Mel Brooks-y" or over the top, but once the show picks up some speed, and Igor and Frau-something (sorry forgot her name) comes on, you'll be DYING!!! it's so funny, and they are both such amazingly talented comedians! Sutton Foster is also my favorite actress, and i was mainly going to see her in it....but she wasn't on when i got tickets, and i still LOVED it even without her! So i really hope you like it too Let us know what you think when you get back! Favorite past roles: Little Sally (Urinetown), Little Red (Into the Woods), Young Vi (Violet), Babe O'Day (Good News), Patsy (Crazy For You), Sarah (Seven Brides For Seven Brothers), Woodstock (Snoopy!!!)

Next Up: Gertrude McFuzz (Seussical), Patti Simcox (Grease)
