Musical Theatre Class Performance - 2008/02/02 00:39
SO- tonight was my school's "Beauty Walk." Basically, the stupid little beauty pageant all high schools do, with a bunch of girls that have no business being in a pageant. But they asked the musical theatre class to be the intermission entertainment, and we've been working on the songs for two or three weeks all in class.
We did "Welcome to the 60s" and my mom came to choreograph the song, and it was cute. And we had a very... colorful guy be Edna, and we gave him a fabulous costume. The audience was laughing so hard by the end that you can't hear the singing on the recording. Haha. But I had the Dynamite solo "somethin fresh somethin new" that goes up, and it was fun.
We also did Pandemonium from Spelling Bee- a senior and I staged it, and it looked pretty good. The singing got a little rough, but all the freshman and sophomores in the class really stepped up to the plate and improved so much just from attempting the song. (The harmonies are pretty hard-core, if you've never sung it) The audience was not a theatre crowd, so they didn't get it at all...
I'm trying to upload onto youtube now, but my computer's mucho slow. It'll be under my username DrDillamond as soon as they're up. http://youtube.com/user/DrDillamond
But yay- a grand improvement from last year, let me tell you. Last year it was terrible singing, staging, and everything else! Watch the vids!
