God I haven't felt this mad since - 2008/02/01 16:29 I read Kalpakian's Cosette

I am friends with a girl named Keleigh who plays Sister Berthe and Frau Braun in the Sound of Music and lately, she's gotten so bossy. She tries to tell everyone what to do and where to enter and exit and she acts like she's the best and Jill's and Michelle's favorites. (Jill doesn't play favorites and neither does Michelle They''re both annoyed with Keleigh cuz I heard them talking about it with the costume director.) Besides Jill and Michelle, Caroline, Lindsay and Tara have both confided in me that they're annoyed with Keleigh too. Also, Keleigh picks fights with me and usually I'm the one who's right and she gets all up in my face about it.

WELL EXCUSE ME! Can I help it that I can take stage directions and notes better than she can?

She always find something that's wrong and tries to fix it and be the big hero.

GOD! I'll be glad when I'm not backstage with her!

ok ranting done! Off to the start of 4 Sound of Music performances!!
"Doctor Who, Doctor Who, does whatever a doctor can do.."

PREVIOUSLY: Sister Magaretta in The Sound Of Music

CURRENTLY: Les Misérables directed by Ivan Rutherford ))

Re:God I haven't felt this mad since - 2008/02/01 17:19 I was in The Wizard of Oz last summer. It was the first big production I ever did, and I thought I knew everything. I kept giving people "notes", too about how to "improve" their performance. Little did I realize that they all knew MUCH about the theatre genre than me! I feel incredibly stupid about it now, but they were amazingly polite to me. I am glad that they were - I would have felt twice as stupid if someone called me on my total lack of understanding of the process.

The morale of the story? I thought I was doing what was best for the show (and for THEM as actors, I guess).

It is hard to do, but try not to call her on her "bull-hockey"! She will probably feel stupid about it someday, too!

Keep you chin up and aim toward the end of the line! Opening night will be here soon! (Did I just give ANOTHER "note"? AHHHHHHHH )

Re:God I haven't felt this mad since - 2008/02/01 20:31 I hate backstage directors, especially if they have less experience than you and act like you don't know what you are doing! If the directors are noticing this then she is just making herself look stupid and she probley will not get a good role (if any) in the next show. Just ignore her, and don't let it affect your performance! -Laura

Favorite Musical: PHANTOM OF THE OPERA!!!!!!! As for more "happy" musicals i like BATB, Music Man, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, and Singin' in the rain!!!

Next production: R&H Cinderella?

Re:God I haven't felt this mad since - 2008/02/01 23:39 My last director told the cast in an early rehearsal not to give anyone else notes or direction. If you had any ideas that you thought would be helpful she had a notebook you could write them down in, or if you wanted it to be private you were to tear out the page and hand it directly to her. ~Annie
Currently: Soloist for Night of Jazz fundraiser
Recently: Miss Thorn (Ruthless! the Musical), Emma Carew (Jekyll & Hyde)
