a chorus line - 2008/01/21 03:21 i live in a small town and a company is putting on "a chorus line" this town is NOT known for doing such intence shows.
i'm a strong singer/actress and i've sang "nothing" for competitions many times.
one problem, dancing is not my strong point. other than some dance when i was little, ballroom dancing, and basic musical theatre experience, i'm not a strong dancer. I do learn quickly and try hard.

normaly, i wouldn't audition for a show so strong in dance, becasue i'm not great. but i've always wanted to play moralis.
because i live in a small town, i doubt there will be millions of AMAZING dancers trying out, so maybe singing/acting will balence it out.
i'm wondering if i should just audition, try my best, and possibly embarrace myself, or just not audition.

advice?
i have to know if i can be astonishing!

Re:a chorus line - 2008/01/21 13:26 I would audition, if its a role you've always wanted to play go for it! I'm definitely not strong in dance either, and although that hasnt really mattered yet I would still audition. If your good in the other things it should balance out. Hope that helps.

Re:a chorus line - 2008/01/21 14:18 If there is one thing I have learned, it is that anything can happen in casting because you never know who will or will not show up at auditions. Go for it! The worst that will happen is that you won't get cast, and you won't get cast if you don't go anyway. So what have you got to lose? _____________

Re:a chorus line - 2008/01/21 15:11 The high school I work at is doing Chorus Line right now. The kid who plays (whatever character it is that does "I can do that!") never tapped before in his life. He had to go out and buy tap shoes for the show. he DID, however, can in and knocked all of our socks off with the way he sang the song. Granted, the choreographer did say she could teach anyone to tap.

The morale of the story? Just go do it. Just like "Triple Threat" said, you don't have to be the greatest dancer in the world, you only have to be the best one that shows up. And if you impress them with your acting and singing, they will teach you to dance.
