Dreams - 2007/09/05 19:30Has anyone here ever had theatre dreams?
I had a dream last night that I was cast in a traveling production of Beauty and the Beast, and I was cast as Belle but nobody told me until opening ngiht, so I was singing along with the soundtrack and faking my lines! The direstor was my HS director, and the othe cast members were people from my college music theory class. 0_o
And every once in awhile I'll have a dream that we're reviving the show music man from 4 years ago and no one can find teh girl who played Marian so I have to play her but its a huge disaster.~*~Angelina~*~

Re:Dreams - 2007/09/05 19:43I think I've had some too. I can't remember one in particular, but I remember waking up and thinking, "Crap, I better learn the lyrics to [insert show here] better!" because I end up playing a part last minute too!
I often have friends from theatre show up in my dreams, too. Odd. My Name Is: Lisa! And I'm fifteen! Upcoming Auditions:The Pajama Game Favorite Roles: Tumnus in Narnia The Musical & the Narrator (the Artful Dodger) in A Christmas With Scrooge.

Re:Dreams - 2007/09/05 19:46Omigoodness! I just had one last night! haha
I was auditioning for Phantom of the Opera on broadway (OMG!) and I got called back, but then my friend, who knows no musical theatre at all, got Christine. Then I crashed the chandelier on her. Ouch.
That one made me laugh
Not really broadway, but then I had a dream that I finally got to see a Michael Crawford concert (OMG again).... but while going into the theatre, i was bitten by a snake and was taken to the ER, then I died.

Re:Dreams - 2007/09/05 23:28I've had them mostly about auditioning. I'll show up early and realized that I don't have my music with me.
Just last night I dreamt that I auditioned for Jekyll & Hyde at a high school and the woman playing Lucy, in my current production, and I were cast in the same roles for this production, but there was also a third female lead! Oh yeah and the show opened at the end of this month!
The night before opening night of a show I had a dream that it was opening night and the whole cast sat down at two long tables on the stage with their scripts and just read the show.
Another time it was intermission and I was standing around talking when someone came up to me and said that I needed to be on stage, they couldn't start without the lead and I wasn't even dressed (I was in a robe)and up to that point I didn't even know that I was the lead, I thought I was in the chorus!
Why do we have these crazy dreams?~Annie Currently: Soloist for Night of Jazz fundraiser Recently: Miss Thorn (Ruthless! the Musical), Emma Carew (Jekyll & Hyde)

Re:Dreams - 2007/09/05 23:40Ooh, I remember a specific one!!
I often have this dream the night before a show... I'm on stage performing and everything seems normal - I'm in the right costume, doing the right choreohgraphy - everything!
Then everything ends up going COMPLETELY wrong and I wake up thinking it was the actual show. Literally, I'm in bed thinking "I can't believe I screwed up so badly last night!! What will everyone think?!?!"
And then I remember I still have a few hours until the show. My Name Is: Lisa! And I'm fifteen! Upcoming Auditions:The Pajama Game Favorite Roles: Tumnus in Narnia The Musical & the Narrator (the Artful Dodger) in A Christmas With Scrooge.

Re:Dreams - 2007/09/05 23:43I just remembered another one! When I was in Nunsense I lost my voice and couldn't go over my solo for the first few weeks, even after my voice came back we still didn't work on it! I ended up dreaming that we never did go over it and I went onstage and only knew every other line and finally shook my head no like I can't do this and backed away off stage! The next rehearsal I went up to the MD and told her about it so we finally went over my song!~Annie Currently: Soloist for Night of Jazz fundraiser Recently: Miss Thorn (Ruthless! the Musical), Emma Carew (Jekyll & Hyde)

Re:Dreams - 2007/09/06 19:59I have them all the time!
One of the worst ones for me was before two big auditions happening within a week of each other. One was for a kids' theatre troupe and one was for a NY CD. So my dream was that I was in line at the movie theatre when suddenly I realized that I was late for auditions. I ran to the building and got in line and when I went in, the kids' director and the CD were both there. I said my monologue and they just started at me. Finally, the CD said, "get out," and I spent a long time begging them to let me show them what I could do.
I can't remember any recent ones at the moment...Auditioning for: Brigadoon, theatre season, American Music Theatre, Into the Woods, Sound of Music, and AMDA.

Re:Dreams - 2007/09/08 00:15I had a really wierd one just like a month ago: I dreamed that I was going to see some show my best friend was in but when I got there everyone was all depressed so I asked, "What's going on?" and this girl (who in real life has never met my friend) says, "Georgia, didn't you hear: Claire's dead" So I like freak out and start weeping and basically completely lose control and then the director comes up and is like "Georgia, since Claire's dead now we need you to play her part" but I had no idea what I was doing and they just shoved me into a costume... and then I woke up. What was especially scary is that I personally believe that dreams can hint at the future because I've had dreams that did that before and Claire was supposed to fly back from England the next day so I call her and I'm all "Don't get on the plane!! You're gonna die!!!" and she was like "You're crazy" and got on anyway. But luckily she didn't die, all that happened was my friend in the show I was in got sick during a performance and couldn't go on that night. But dreams like that freak me out!-Georgia

Re:Dreams - 2007/09/08 19:24Oh, i just remembered another one.
The play I dreamed about in the other dream, I got into (in real life and in the dream) and it was opening night, and I walk into the theatre and everyone's in their costumes from the show we had done the year before. I asked the director what was going on and she was like, "Stories from the Attic wasn't ready, so we're just doing Greeks again." "But only half of the cast is in this one." "That doesn't matter." So I run back to the dressing room, hoping I remember all my monologues and my friend Jess comes out, wearing my costume. I was like, "What are you doing? That's my costume!" "Oh, I'm playing your part!" And I look in the theatre and the play's already started!
Ah, actor's dreams... gotta love 'em!Auditioning for: Brigadoon, theatre season, American Music Theatre, Into the Woods, Sound of Music, and AMDA.

Re:Dreams - 2007/09/09 17:03I have theatre dreams all the time. Don't you love them?
I had one once where I auditioned for "The Wizard of Oz" and cast as Dorothy. When I got to rehearsal they told me they'd changed shows and I would now be playing Ado Annie in "Oklahoma", so I said okay and took the script they gave me. When I opened the script, however, it was a script for "Grease" with my name on it, but the lines for Doody were highlighted. I turned to ask the director about it, but he'd disappeared. So then we start rehearsing and they call me over and ask if I'm ready to rehearse 'On My Own' and I was like "That's from 'Les Miserables'." and they were all "Good job! Did you know Eponine sings it? Oh, and you're Eponine too!" and I just said whatever and rehearsed it.
That's the weirdest dream I'd ever had, but when I woke up I saw that "Grease" was on TV, and I'd been listening to "Oklahoma" before I went to sleep, so I guess that explains part of it.This isn't a golf tournament, being loud is more than acceptable!

Re:Dreams - 2007/09/10 19:09I have a recurring one:
I'm backstage, someone says "You're On!" and I have no idea what play it is, what part I am, and so I'm frantically looking for a script backstage, but no one has one. Sometimes I make it on stage without a clue what the show is, or part is, but mostly I wake up feeling very anxious before I ever make it on stage in my dream, thinking, "If I just knew what play and what part, maybe I could wing it."
Scary!

Re:Dreams - 2008/02/02 03:46This is an old topic but, oh well, i have theatre dreams all the time!
A couple months ago i had a dream, the night before my audition for "Oklahoma!", that i went to the audition and then they told me they switched the musical from "Oklahoma!" to "Phantom of the Opera"!!! Of course i wanted the role of Christine, so i rushed home to find the perfect audition song for Christine, in just a couple hours!!!
Another one i had was that it was opening night of "Oklahoma!" and i forgot what musical we were doing and thought we were doing "Joseph...". So then someone told me we were doing "Oklahoma!" so i tried to remember all my lines before i went on! -Laura
Favorite Musical: PHANTOM OF THE OPERA!!!!!!! As for more "happy" musicals i like BATB, Music Man, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, and Singin' in the rain!!!
Next production: R&H Cinderella?
