Hello! - 2008/04/02 22:03 So, here's my intro. Whee!

Name: Susan Chakmakian. But you should just call me Susie. It's easier to pronounce.

Age: 15, going on 16 at the end of April

Occupation: High school sophomore. And what a taxing job it is.

What's your favorite show?: Right now? Les Miserables. What a cliche, but it's true.

Least Favorite Show?: I don't have one right now. If I see something I
really hate, I'll let you know.

Your favorite role you've had: I've only really played one thing so far EVER, but it was great fun. I was in a play based on a short story called "The Canary Prince," and I played a slightly neurotic, homesick Russian Guard named Alexei, whose favorite activity is napping. No lie. I wrote all of his dialogue and used a really bad fake accent and everything.

What is your ultimate dream role??: This is really cliched, too, but I would really love to play Eponine. Or Belle in Beauty and the Beast.

How did you get into theatre?: I've been watching musicals (at least, the movie kind) for as long as I can remember, and I've always loved them.
But I first decided to try to pursue actually performing in theater after seeing Les Mis in NYC last year.

Something you can't live without (You can't say anything theatre related): I adore reading, so if all my books disappeared, I would go into shock, shrivel up and die.

Any Random Fears: I am ridiculously afraid of the dark. And bugs. And my family thinking that I am psychotic for wanting to go into musical theatre, a business with little to no job security and low pay, but lots of artistic fulfillment.

If you had to eat one thing forever what would it be?: Ooh, toughie. Right now, I would have to say beef lo mein. It's meat and noodles and vegetables all rolled into one convenient food item. Best eaten out of those cool take-out packages they always have in Asian restaurants, but with a fork. Those chopsticks confuse the heck out of me.

Play Any Sports?: Um, no. But I do take dance lessons at Armenian school on Saturdays.

Favorite Color: I'm kind of fond of pink, but I really like white.

What's your vocal range?: Mezzo-soprano. I'm working on expanding it a little on the top, i.e. about an Ab5 (to accommodate my choir's music, where I'm a Soprano I), and on the bottom, i.e. hopefully at least an F3, E3 if I'm lucky (to accommodate the speaking mix I use in voice lessons)

How did you find MTA?: I was searching about the ranges of some female characters in Broadway shows so I would know if I would ever have a shot at playing them, and I stumbled across this site. I kept coming back because you had good info about preparing for performances and other such tidbits.

Anything else?: As shown above, I like to explain things and tell stories, a LOT. I dressed up as a newsie for Halloween last year and I want to be Eponine for Halloween this year (yes, I plan this far in advance). Warm apple pie with vanilla ice cream is one of the best things ever. Libraries save my life, because I would have to buy many, MANY more books and movies than I already have if I couldn't just borrow them.
