Re:need an idea for a non-musical show - PLEASE HE - 2007/07/01 10:39 The most fun non-musical show I was ever in was a murder mystery called Curse of the Cobra's Kiss. It was this absolutely hilarious, ridiculous show where two people dress up as mummies, and slowly one by one a bunch of people in the cast get killed in the most ridiculous ways. The main detective Hercules Porkchop has a ridiculous fake french accent, and at intermission, he and the other main female detective get to question the audience and the audience has to fill out ballads about who they think the killer is. The cast has a rich man who throws the party, his money loving wife, his jealous secretary, an assistant with an unknown past, his ne'er-do-well nephew (who I played and also turns out to be the killer), two movie starletts, their boyfriend and their director (with southern accents in the middle of Egypt), three maids, a crazed chef known for poisoning people's food, tarentella a fortune teller, and the nephew's current and ex girlfriends.

So much fun!

Re:need an idea for a non-musical show - PLEASE HE - 2007/07/03 16:24 Any style that you're looking for (or avoiding for that matter). I was going to say something like Arsenic and Old Lace for comedy or All My Sons for drama. Your best bet may be to just go READ a few Strait plays and pick one. A one-act or 10 minute play may be a good choice too because they're shorter and often take fewer people. Maybe try some ideas here http://www.theatrehistory.com/plays/index.html . I hope that can help some, good luck hun!

Re:need an idea for a non-musical show - PLEASE HE - 2007/08/10 15:15 thank you all so much for your sujestions! what i'm really looking for is a family show that we can perform at a church..... maybe a classic, something people would probably know the story to at least a little? Little Womens the sort of thing i'm going for but our Little Theatre just did it this spring. (i was Beth) something along those lines is definatly what i'm looking for though. any more ideas anyone?
