Re:Assignment #7 - 2007/04/05 23:37 My biggest problems are probably sleep. I stay up late alot, especially during dress rehersals/ shows, but I usually only get about 6 hours of sleep every night anyway. Yikes, but on the weekend, it's about ten hours. My grades also start to sink a bit, but they've never been very high anyway. My parents think I do too much, but really, theatre/ dance is the only thing keeping me sane. I just daydream, thats all. ANYWAY, our cafetorium at school has soda machines, so half the time I buy some coke, but the other half of the time I have no money and have to deal without food..... both ways are bad anyway. But there's also juice machines, I guess I'll go there more often.... I've never really noticed how unhealthy I am when it comes to theatre.....this will help. *´¨)

Re:Assignment #7 - 2007/04/08 03:42 We start dress rehearsals on Sunday, with 5 weeks til opening. It's going to be hell.
Schoolwork is a problem, always, because I've got about 50 things on the go (I'm sure people can relate with that?) but the cast are all really supportive with me being second youngest and the only one going through upper school exams, so all throughout rehearsals they've been helping me with that. Although it's going to be harder now that they're longer rehearsals with less time for me to sit around doing nothing!!

Sleep's also a big factor because for all shows except the two school ones, I've been one of the youngest cast memebers so the rehearsals can go until 10 - 10:30 at night and I won't be home until 11 at the absolute latest.

Diet is usually OK, mum makes sure I eat enough healthy foods to keep me energetic
O, then I see Queen Mab hath been with you!

Maureen in Dimboola

Re:Assignment #7 - 2007/04/08 14:57 I'm doing okay with my shows. My last run I didn't allow myself to get too rundown which is so helpful, not only to you, but to everyone else around you. I open on Tuesday with my next show, Alice in Wonderland. Honestly, it's been the most frustrating experience of my life. Especially since my last show was semi-professional and demanded a high amount of professionalism. At school it's a different story. We've never had a rehearsal with everyone there and Alice still doesn’t know all her lines! It will be a miracle if it goes smoothly. We're really banking on the final dress right before opening. I'm trying to stay positive and healthy as well as getting lots of sleep. It will all be over with soon. Sorry, but I think I needed to get that off my chest.

Re:Assignment #7 - 2007/04/08 16:25 During shows I always have a bag of dried fruit lots of water and snack bars of some sort (Breakfast bars, Granola bars, protein bars, ect.) in my bag. I try to do this during the whole show not just tech week. Since I'm still in high school I usually am going straight from school to rehersal. So during shows its usually fast food unless I plan ahead. I'll make indivual salads and put them in a plastic container in the frig, run home grab it and eat in my car before running into practice. I just do little things to make my life easier. Such as making myself dinner that will make easy to eat left overs before practice the next day or two. Kylie
