Re:Center Stage Club February Assignments - 2007/02/03 14:47 My make-up kit is pretty clean, although I do have to remove the Les Mis costume outline I made for myself and taped in my makeup case.

The main problem with my case is that it's not organized. I need to go to target or something and find a very shallow tray that I can put in my case so I can keep everything in order and not have to dig through the heap everytime I need to find something.

I like the exercise plan. I take three dance classes, but you're right, on the days I don't have class, I don't do much. Now that Les Mis is over, I can get back to my treadmill schedule. I usually do that on non-dance class days.
Auditioning for: Brigadoon, theatre season, American Music Theatre, Into the Woods, Sound of Music, and AMDA.

Currently In: Nothing

Re:Center Stage Club February Assignments - 2007/02/03 16:27 Good ideas! I have never had to purchase strange stage make up so I usually just use drug store stuff and apply more of it for stage purposes. That way I can use it up in between shows and don't have to feel bad about throwing away good make-up. The healthy habit is good too. I have PE this semester so I'll have lots of time to work in activity.

Re:Center Stage Club February Assignments - 2007/02/03 18:01 I think i'm good with the movement part, i've got 3 dance classes a week, and my school is HUGE and I'm always out of breath when I get to class. The weekends....I should work on them. And I do have to clean out my makeup bag. I've got 2 foundations and 2 liquid foundations, and a really old lipstick (even though it still works really well, I need to dump it.) But these are good ideas! *´¨)

Re:Center Stage Club February Assignments - 2007/02/07 15:12 I wish I had the time/money for dance classes! I do get a lot of exercise from hockey though. My gym class ended this semester so I'll work on trying to fit more movement into my day. My school is huge too, so I'm walking up and down lots of stairs. We also have a gorgeous work out room and most rehersals I have allot time before hand for a work out.

I have a Caboodle, the multi-tiered boxes made for makeup, that I keep all of my makeup in. It's generally clean since I use it a lot. I need to find a way to separate all of my show specific make up. Any suggestions?

Re:Center Stage Club February Assignments - 2007/02/09 02:22 I too wish I had time and money and transportation for dance classes, although I'd probably use all that for more plays, and I've yet to need a makeup case so I have nothing to clen out or organize. how sad. I really need to exercise more. I don't have PE and hopefully won't next year either, so I need to do something. The opposite of Rent is Oklahoma!!! Why didn't I think of that?

Re:Center Stage Club February Assignments - 2007/02/09 02:38 My box is better than it used to be, although it's really out of order. I threw away all of my old stuff last year and bought a brand-new Ben Nye kit and some new brushes, but I haven't had the chance to re-order anything since my last show in September.

And as far the exercising goes, I was in awesome shape in high school when I was doing marching band every summer. But ever since I graduated, I've found it much harder to keep at anything exercise-related. I'm taking 17 credits this semester, but I've actually been thinking about getting a gym ID and using the free gym at school.

Oh, and just to throw this in here, I went to a professional dinner theatre audition last weekend with my new, organized repertoire in tow, and received a compliment from one of the auditioners on my organization! It definitely made me feel like a champ.

Re:Center Stage Club February Assignments - 2007/02/11 15:37 Good for you Alyssa! (See? It works!)

What does everyone have on their makeup shopping list?

I need new brushes very badly. The ones I have are old and sad.

Re:Center Stage Club February Assignments - 2007/02/11 17:04 I actually just got the costume/makeup list for 42nd Street, so I need to hit CVS soon. I need new foundation, lipstick, eyeliner, and blush. Sad, I know, but I've never had an offical kit. Shelby

Re:Center Stage Club February Assignments - 2007/02/11 18:08 I've never had a makeup kit. For shows and other performing events requiring makeup (such as show choir), I have a compact with eyeshadow and blush, and some other stuff that I shove in the bottom of my garment bag or the bag with my hot rollers and character shoes (the only organization with my makeup is that everything is together in a plastic bag).

This aside, I don't know what to buy if I were to buy more makeup. I don't know what I'm supposed to or should have.

Re:Center Stage Club February Assignments - 2007/02/12 23:05 Ooh, this weekend I bought a great makeup bag at Nordstrom Rack for like $16. I Put all my stuff in it and organized it and realized I hadn't thrown away any of my old lipstick so I chucked like 5. I really need to buy some better foundation and actual stage blush. I have green foundation with green and grey creme from Ben-Nye because of Narnia but no good regular foundation. As for the movement thing, Wizard of Oz rehearsals are really intense and I'm trying out a new dance class tomorrow. (Beginning Teen Tap/Jazz-it's like everything I've ever wanted in a dance class) I have to admit that when I'm not in a show, which isn't very often, I'm not as active as I should be. -Georgia

Re:Center Stage Club February Assignments - 2007/02/13 17:23 How do we become part of the Center Stage Club? Is that a silly question since it's all challenges all of us should do anyway? I actually own very little makeup because I have most of it done permanently (it's my profession) and I have eyeliner, lipliner, and eyebrows done all the time. I usually use foundation and mascara (like is seen in my photo to the left) and if I really want, some eyeshadow. But I haven't had to have any stage makeup yet. I'm hoping that I will in the somewhat near future though! Then when I do, I'll just add all the elements over the bases I've already gotten done.

I assume that when you come to auditions, you want makeup to be done nicely but not overdone...

Re:Center Stage Club February Assignments - 2007/02/14 20:32 You just do the assignments, the club members are all who are registered to these forums!(in my opinion, they should be at least)

Is the next challenge up tomorrow? I'm pretty sure it is, I wonder what it is. I'm very bad at being patient. I bet it involves costumes.

Re:Center Stage Club February Assignments - 2007/02/15 16:47 i have a very small make-up bag. it pretty much just has the basics that are nessicary. i wish i had the extra money to get more tho.

as for movement, i work in retail and a restaurant when i'm on my feet the whole time and that's for hours and hours everyday, not to mention the chorus numbers they're having us to for mattress. again...i wish i had the extra money to get dance lessons. i have no formal dance training but because of cheerleading i am able to pick up choreography fairly quickly.
