The Secret School - 2008/01/05 19:37
I am so excited! About two weeks ago, I went to an audition for The Secret School, which is based in th book by Avi. I almost didn't go to the audition because I had had a five hour rehearsal for school and the show the next day, and I had to go straight to the audition. But it sounded like a great story, so I was like, "What the heck" and went anyway. I was in the very first group of readers and thought the reading went pretty well, though, as usual, I got asked to slow down (I talk at hyper-speed). They had me read for the main character a few times, then for a bunch of smaller characters. About a week later, I was in Florida and the director called me and asked if I would come to callbacks. Obviously, I couldn't, being across the country. I live about an hour away from the theatre and the director was like, "Do you really want to do this?" I was like, "Yes, I really, really do." So she told me I had a part right then- but she didn't tell me which one. My mom was like, "I certainly hope it's a big one- we live too far away!"
We had our first rehearsal on Thursday, and the first thing I looked at was the cast list.- and my name was next to the main character, Ida's! I got the lead! I am sooo happy- I've read the script many times already, and I love my part! I'm really excited for this show- it's going to be really fun!
