Fever - 2008/02/25 20:23Yeah.... so today I had my auditions for The Sound of Music. A few hours earlier, i got no sleep that night, and my nose was so congested. Then I got a huge headache. Every 5 minutes, I had to get up and blow my nose, getting no school work done. My throat started burning along with my face, but I was freezing. I felt so uncomfortable, I pretty much wanted to cry.
I didn't want to go home, i HAD to be in this show. So I slaved through the audition process, and I thought I did pretty good. I forgot the name of my song, and I forgot a little of the dance, but everything else went fine.
Then (i knew it was coming), I pretty much wanted to faint after I walked out. I skipped dance class, I took some Tylenol, but Callbacks are on Wednesday, and I want to be better by then (incase I get called-back). The list goes up tomorrow.... should I risk going to school?
Please help, what should I do? What food can I eat? I'm sure you've all had this happen to you before... But thank you!!!!

Re:Fever - 2008/02/26 01:57You should really take a day off school and just rest. It seems like you worked yourself really hard just to get through those auditions, so you'll need a day or two of just laying in bed so you can give your body rest enough to dance and be active Wednesday.
Oh and of course buy Ricolas. I remember reading somewhere(on this forum I think!) that ricolas don't just coat your throat they actually kinda help it so you wouldn't be pushing it(cherry and honey are my favorite flavor!)
I really hope you start feeling better, and drink PLENTY of water!! I'm sure someone else will come with even better suggestions soon too!The opposite of Rent is Oklahoma!!! Why didn't I think of that?

Re:Fever - 2008/02/26 12:45I got a bit of a cold a few weeks back. It could have been a lot worse than it was, but I used the power of positive thinking (easier said than done with a fever) and apples. Munching on apples fairsly constantly kept my throat clear and moist, and prevented the dreaded cough that follows head colds for weeks after the fever breaks.Briana

Re:Fever - 2008/02/26 22:37no, do not go to school. You can go in before or after school and explain that you're sick to teachers and ask for work to do at home- its helped me before- and rest up! You sound stressed out. If missing school isn't an option, sleep in late and take a shower the day of callbacks before you go to school.-Ali

Re:Fever - 2008/02/27 19:34Thanks for all the advice! (oh and - Riccola is the cough drop of god! i love those things!)
So basically when I woke up the next morning, I literally couldn't stand up. haha so I got to stay home. It was very painful, but I took some meds, and now I'm almost normal. I still have a little congestion, but i'm working on it.
Turns out, I WAS called back, and I went to school today, and I recieved the music for So Long, Farewell, which meant they were deciding on casting me as a kid (the only one i could get is Louisa, which is what i wanted...!) Theres another girl possible for it, but she's a little too pretty to play a child... (i hate competition, but if she gets it, i won't care, she's really talented and nice)
And they made me sing without vibrato! It felt so weird! Without vibrato, singing is like... walking without picking up your feet. Haha. Tomarrow is acting callbacks.... then the cast list goes up Friday! *´¨) ¸.•´¸.•*´¨) ¸.•*¨) (¸.•´ (¸.•´ Annie

That is great you got a callback !!! I think everyone hates competition, but i always look at it this way: competition is an opportunity for you to work hard and grow!!!
lol about the vibrato thing, my voice teacher, the other day was trying to get me to sing without vibrato! I hope you get the part!!! Let us know!!! Favorite Shows: POTO, Wicked, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Legally Blonde, Hairspray, BATB, Music Man and more!

Re:Fever - 2008/02/29 18:08aw thanks..... well...... the cast list was emailed to us at 5 today.... of course it was 15 minutes late, driving me INSAAANE.
They gave Louisa to the prettier girl. I'm just in the (non existant) chorus.
I gotta be honest and say that I'm really dissapointed in myself. I mean I'm glad I'm in the show, but my resume isn't looking so hot. But I guess she deserved the role, I'm just a sore loser. oh well.... maybe something will come along someday...
