AP Classes - 2008/01/24 23:43 So, Just out of curiosity how many AP classes did you, or are you planning to take? (Or the equivalent of that wherever you live)

I just made my four year plan, and I am planning to take 5 or 6 AP Classes Including...

-AP Music Theory
-AP US Government
-AP European History
-AP English
-AP Psychology
and Possibly
-AP Statistics

How many, and which did you take.

Re:AP Classes - 2008/01/25 08:12 This year, I'm only taking 2 because they only let you take two, so it's

AP English 11
AP Psychology (sooo much fun, I highly reccomend it if it's offered)

And next year, my senior year,

AP English 12
AP Calculus
(hopefully) AP Biology
and possibly AP US HIstory, although I don't like history so much so I might not.

I feel like there's one I'm forgetting...

Either way, they reccomend you don't take more than 3 or 4 per year, or at least they do here, although my APs don't seem any harder than honors.
- Caitlin / Cait -

Favorites Belle in Beauty and the Beast (2008), Jupiter in Cymbeline (2006), Narrator in Joseph... (2005)
Present (possibly) YAGMCB...

Re:AP Classes - 2008/01/25 09:01 I took four AP classes, broken up with two junior year and two senior year.

Junior Year: AP Chem
AP US History ( plus an extra history class which was added to our AP)

Senior Year: AP English Lit
AP Calc

I wouldn't really suggest taking more than five AP classes, because you just really don't want to overload yourself, and plus not all colleges accept the AP credits and sometimes it also depends on what your major is for them to accept them.

Re:AP Classes - 2008/01/25 11:04 yeah at our school you can take honors freshman and sophomore year and then it become AP, with no honors being offered, for junior and senior year.

hmm...i've heard AP Psych is really boring - just constant reading and note taking. plus i'm more interested in social psychology than things like mental illness and drug use, which is basically all they focus on at my school

I wish we had AP EuroStud!

Re:AP Classes - 2008/01/25 11:10 Yeah, my school only allows for AP classes junior and senior. I've taken:
AP Language Arts and Composition
AP Literature and Composition
AP Macro/Micro Economics
AP Comparitive Government and Politics
AP U.S. Government and Politics
AP Psychology
AP Music Theory

AP Psych and Music Theory are more like extensions of the regular class. The regular and AP classes are during the same period, the AP kids just do more homework.

Re:AP Classes - 2008/01/25 15:21 Wow, your schools offer a lot of AP classes! I don't even think mine offers AP languages, let alone stuff like pschology. We have the basic subjects for AP, and we can only take them junior and senior year. Last year, I took AP Language, and this year I'm taking AP Literature and Composition and also this really cool philosophy course that isn't really classified as AP but is weighted (it's technically "gifted education"). Auditioning for: Brigadoon, theatre season, American Music Theatre, Into the Woods, Sound of Music, and AMDA.

Currently In: Nothing

Re:AP Classes - 2008/01/25 15:33 Mine you can take them starting sophomore year. I took a semester of AP Euoropean history. It had ay too much homework for me though, so I haven't done well and have to switch out for next semester.

I almost took AP Chem but realized it'd be way too much...

My school offers a lot though

Re:AP Classes - 2008/01/25 18:11 Our school offers AP starting as a freshman where AP World History is broken up into two years and it is most likely the WORST of all the AP because you have to learn 10,000 years of history about every other country except the US. It's a pain and I seem to treat it more like a game--> you win a few lose a few....my advice...don't ever take it! Catherine
currently: Babette/silly girl #1 BATB
next: audition for Chicago!

Re:AP Classes - 2008/01/25 23:26 I took AP Biology my senior year. It was really, really difficult at many points (especially when we were doing microbiology!). I got a 1 on my AP exam because I didn't bother studying, and instead drew pictures and wrote stupid little poems lol.
