Be Careful Who You Work With! - 2008/01/03 15:22 Hey guys! I'm posting this message as a warning to all dancers, singers, and performers in general. BE CAREFUL WHO YOU WORK WITH! I just found out that a man who used to teach at my dance studio was accused of doing horrible things to a 15-year-old girl.

My sister had him for a finale performance, and she said that he was very mean and treated them as though they should do everything perfectly, and if they didn't then he would make them do pushups.

So remember, if ANYONE (contemporary or superiour) does anything to hurt you in any way, TELL SOMEONE! I know you all probably know that, but just a simple reminder.

Re:Be Careful Who You Work With! - 2008/01/03 16:37 a man i was in a play with was a bit creepy...he would smack us on the butt and stuff. it would have been totally normal coming from another kid, but...it wasn't. I would have said something, but we were in our final weekend of shows by the time it started and i knew i would never see him again.

Re:Be Careful Who You Work With! - 2008/01/03 17:34 True! One of my best friends who was 14 at the time was in Anne Frank and the guys who played Peter who was 20 told her he loved her and was just generally creepy. He asked where she was going after rehearsal one day and she said to a store with a friend and he showed up there. Creep!

Re:Be Careful Who You Work With! - 2008/01/03 18:28 I was in a show with a man who was in his early thirties and WAS A HIGH SCHOOL CHOIR TEACHER and he tried to make a move on me... I was 13.

He also made out with 2/3 of the female cast, most of which were in their mid-teens

Re:Be Careful Who You Work With! - 2008/01/03 23:02 I teach in the state of Illinois and I can tell you that if I innocently put my arms around a female student, regardless of her age, I could lose my teaching certificate. And that is like an actor losing their union card. If I kissed any student, male or female, even on the forehead or the cheek, I would be fired. And you say that guy "made out" with them? Go tell someone one, as soon as you can! If you tell another teacher and the other teacher fails to act, that other teacher could be charged with a crime, too! This can't end well. It will keep happening, until the unthinkable happens.

Don't think if they don't "hurt you" that it is okay. If they make you "feel uncomfortable" tell someone.

Do Something, quickly! Report it!
