Re:who is the Phra Alack in the King and I - 2007/11/29 16:02 He does not sing but he is in several scenes and has lines, being the secretary to the king of siam. :] If you have other options, then you might want to look into them. However, if it's not much of a hassle to travel to the theatre, you should take it. :] I hear it's a fun musical.

Re:who is the Phra Alack in the King and I - 2007/11/29 19:52 My other option at the moment would be to direct One Acts at my College...it is a junior college. But if anyone has any exp. w/ this play please tell me the details in scenes I am in...that would help A LOT in deciding if I should go into this play without regret of not directing. Re:who is the Phra Alack in the King and I - 2007/11/29 21:12 I only briefly skimmed through my copy of the script, but I only found two scenes with him in it , they're both in the second act and I only found three lines.

Unless you really love the show and are dying to be in it, I'd pass on it and get the directing experience at school.

Re:who is the Phra Alack in the King and I - 2007/11/30 00:50 It's a small part. Our Phra Alack also doubled as the Interpreter in the first scene, which was a cute bit, too. He was also one of the priests that cross the stage and sing a counter-melody with the kids ("There's No Place Like Home") and was one of the dancers in the Uncle Tom's Cabin scene, which is the best part of the play, in my opinion.

It is a really wonderful show, and if your production is lacking in men (as ours always are), you'll probably be playing more than just that part. Maybe find out first, and see if it's an experience you'll enjoy. But it is a small part.

Re:who is the Phra Alack in the King and I - 2007/11/30 03:34 thank you guys for all your help...I decided to take the role...I figured that getting my name known around the community theatre area would be good. On the count this is my first community theatre show...haha!!!

And I was told by the producer that I should be happy, cause this will be my first show there, and normally I would end up as ensemble, but I ended up with a actual role...so I guess I am thankful.
