Audition Questions? Read Me First! - 2006/10/25 06:11
Many of our new members come to us because they are searching for audition advice, and we love to help! Before you post though, please consider the following:
1) We help people learn to fish on this forum - we don't just give out fishes. That means that we will help you navigate the selection process for audition pieces so that you will learn to do it on your own. If you are looking for someone to just tell you what songs or monologues to use, please go find a private coach. Additionally, any advice that you will receive will assume that you have already read the audition information available on this site.
2) We are happy to give you guidance in choosing an audition song, but keep in mind that if you are looking for personal advice, the internet is the last place you are likely to find it. We don't know you, we've never heard your voice, how could we possibly suggest a song that is right for you? We can provide suggestions, but the best person to choose your audition song is YOU. Read our many resources to help you get started. Once you have a list of possibilities, then we can help you narrow it down!
3) Specific questions about audition songs are welcomed. For example, after giving us details about age, vocal range, character type, and show asking a "this song or this song?" type question is perfectly acceptable. If you have a specific problem, we will do our best to point you in the right direction. Please make sure you are providing enough background information that we can give accurate advice.
4) Before asking about the casting specifics of the show you are auditioning for, please look it up in the show index. http://www.musicaltheatreaudition.com/shows/index.html
5) This forum thrives on give and take - please do your best to answer questions from other members whenever possible.
6) New members - please take the time to introduce yourself in our welcome forum before posting here for advice. We like to know that people are going to stick around long enough to read our responses.
7) Please post all requests for advice on the forum - our moderators and admin are too busy to answer all individual requests.
