Re:What's your favorite cliche theater saying? - 2007/05/13 21:45I'm torn between "Break a leg" and "Techies do it in the dark" lmao, the first is just so old and the second my department says too often...

Re:What's your favorite cliche theater saying? - 2007/05/13 23:32More of a costume one... but we had to keep telling eachother "Ten feet from a moving train," meaning don't be so picky about small details no one will be able to see on a moving actor who's on a stage, removed from the audience. This saying is accompanied by a vigourous shaking back and forth of the garment and "Can you see the mistake? CAN YOU? I didn't think so. Move on."Kathleen Sera Current Shows: Crazy For You - Patricia Upcoming Auditions: Anne Of Green Gables - Anne, Diana

okay - not really a popular quote but fits all musical theatre people.
We quote "Wicked" a lot in our household...lines like, "We Can't All Come & Go by Bubble", or saying "confusifying" or any of the other cute sayings that came out of that show.
I practically know the whole show word for word.Favorite Shows: Once on this Island, Wicked, Hairspray, Legally Blonde Dream Roles: Ado Annie/Oklahoma, Galinda/Wicked, Elle Woods/Legally Blonde Favorite Role: Ti Moune in Once On this Island Jr In Production: Best of Broadway Revue, Elle Woods/Legally Blonde

Re:What's your favorite cliche theater saying? - 2007/05/14 20:37Yours is one of mine. But I also like "We're Thespians. Wanna watch?" And this isn't theatre but I think its humorous. One of the choirs I'm in at school is a very select girls choir. We're called Expressions. Well our T-shirts this year say on the back "Guys Wsh They Could Hit This" and then there's a music note. So the shirt can be taken in two VERY different ways.Kylie

My drama club at school ordered shirts (that UNFORTUNATELY were lost by the company that made them - those slackers!) that said "Thespians Do It Onstage", which has become a quite common slogan!
I love reading these! My Name Is: Lisa! And I'm fifteen! Upcoming Auditions:The Pajama Game Favorite Roles: Tumnus in Narnia The Musical & the Narrator (the Artful Dodger) in A Christmas With Scrooge.

I'm also pretty partial to "There's no business like show business!"
I guess you just love my suggestions then, eh?
And Faith, I know what you mean! Drama club is always unbearably corny, but I guess that's why we love it! (By the way - I love that saying!) My Name Is: Lisa! And I'm fifteen! Upcoming Auditions:The Pajama Game Favorite Roles: Tumnus in Narnia The Musical & the Narrator (the Artful Dodger) in A Christmas With Scrooge.

What, is there something in my teeth? Is my underskirt showing? All right, lets just get this over with. No, I am not seasick. Yes, I have always been green. No, I did not eat grass as a child - Elphaba

Re:What's your favorite cliche theater saying? - 2007/06/12 19:12I have a new one! I thought of it when I looked down - I'm wearing a shirt that says this. It's not laugh out loud funny; you have to be a theater kid to get it. I got a few confused looks, but mostly A LOT of laughs today when I wore it. Here it is:
"I can't... I have rehearsal."
PAHAHAHA. I love it!My Name Is: Lisa! And I'm fifteen! Upcoming Auditions:The Pajama Game Favorite Roles: Tumnus in Narnia The Musical & the Narrator (the Artful Dodger) in A Christmas With Scrooge.

Re:What's your favorite cliche theater saying? - 2007/06/12 21:25Hmm...well, you sure can't beat "There's no business like show business." I personally love "There's no room for modesty in the theatre." In my last production my cast thought "Break a leg" was too cliche and harsh so we opted for "Bruise a knee cap!" HAHAHA
