Re:You Know You're A Theatre Kid If... - 2008/01/18 18:35 -You accidentally hugged your theatre guy friend, almost knocking him over, before you see his girlfriend standing next to him. Oops. Impulse.

-You know your castmates like they have been your best friends since third grade by the end of the first readthrough

-You're ticked in Drama class that you get the randomly assigned small part in the most boring scene in the play to perform for your final. You mutter "He should have at least *auditioned* us, jeesh!" and throughout the rest of the class adopt 'there are no small parts, only small actors' as your mantra.

-They kicked you off of the basketball team for dramatically lunging for the ball, hitting the floor and laying, motionless, on the court until they drag you off, to which you say, in a feeble but defiant voice: "I can still play, coach!"

-Somehow, you're miraculously better at rehearsal.

-everyone knows everything about the inner workings of your life

-It made your day when you won the WWYDGFC contest- yes, now I can get that 'actors do it onstage' tote bag I've been lusting after!
-Ali

Currently:
-Sheila; Boys Next Door (postshow depression mode)
-acceptance to acting ensemble

I first heard that "mantra" in second grade when my teacher put on a musical about a princess and an evil wizard and animals. lol. all i can remember is i wanted to be cast as the princess but i got a butterfly with no lines and just a dance. The girl who got the princess was this obnoxious girl who would say "i want to be the princess!!!" when the teacher was casting us and she didn't even audition us! On the brightside i got to wear the pink butterfly wings!!!!!! I don't list that play on my resume! lol. LOL i just remembered how the boy who played the bear wetted the bear suit my mom made for the play! (it is all coming back to me!)
Favorite Shows: POTO, Wicked, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Legally Blonde, Hairspray, BATB, Music Man and more!

Oh, I know. Everyone else promoting with me was Belle, Mrs. Potts, Babette and the transformed Beast. I felt very out of place, but these were the costumes they assigned to us. We weren't doing 101 Dalmatians of BATB, it was mostly a publicity stunt.

-You have a love-hate relationship with bobby pins

-The only sites you visit regularly besides facebook and your email are theatre related:
the websites for local theatre companies and talent agencies
sheet music websites
youtube videos to help you with the next auditions
MTA
wikipedia, for show research and links
etc.

-The hardest question you've ever had to answer was on the MTA welcome forum: 'what could you not live without? You can't say anything theatre-related'

Re:You Know You're A Theatre Kid If... - 2008/01/22 18:09 On Thursday, January 24th, you're going to mourn the 12-year anniversary of the death of Jonathan Larson (specifically by singing RENT songs all day and wearing some form of black...and, as you get out of the car to go to school you're going to look u pat the sky and say "You always said how lucky you were that we were all friends. But it was us, baby, who were the lucky ones.") Melchi Gabor, he's such a radical!!!

Re:You Know You're A Theatre Kid If... - 2008/03/29 13:24 -you are furious at your parents for picking you up from the cast party at the time it was 'scheduled to end'

-for fun, you write scripts to short stories and then make movies

-you know what PSD is like (hint: look at my signature)

-you broke up with someone because he said your director was wierd

Re:You Know You're A Theatre Kid If... - 2008/03/29 23:55 You got yelled at for trying to cheat in history class when one of the questions on a quiz was "What state is south of Missouri?" and you started humming that song from The Music Man. "You really ought to give Iowa, a try!"

This actually happened to me. Like any of the kids in my class have even heard of Music Man.

Also

-You don't know any of your OWN lines, but you could understudy for anyone else in the cast at any given moment

The following are my favorites from facebook:

-You know it should have been Jonathan Groff (If you laughed at this, you are the ULTIMATE theatre kid)

-Boys who can sing, dance, AND act=love.

-You get used to not sleeping

- Or eating.

-You have sticky or hairless places on your neck because the mic tape has pulled it off.

-You know that even rubbing alcohol can't remove the gunk left over from the aforementioned tape

-You don't care that fourteen girls had the same dress as you at prom but god help the girl that has 'your' monologue.

Re:You Know You're A Theatre Kid If... - 2008/03/30 15:32 You don't have a problem with random people hugging you at rehearsal, even if you don't know them too well

You can't look at a chandelier without thinking of Phantom of the Opera

You've memorized the entire script of the shows you've been in. (I can still quote Godspell from 2 years ago)
~Sarah~

Upcoming: Once On This Island, Footloose

Past Shows: Godspell, Damn Yankees, Little Shop of Horrors, Grease, Guys and Dolls

Re:You Know You're A Theatre Kid If... - 2008/03/30 16:51 haha I love the facebook group for this, dramageek! some of my favorites:

you have named all the un-named characters

you use stage directions to describe things in life

You can't say "I don't know" without singing it like Seymour in "Little Shop of Horrors"

You waltz at your senior prom

you know not to EVER trash your director, even when at home on the phone because they find out everything.

if people think high school is dramatic, you tell them to try being backstage

you can change clothes faster than you can say "break a leg"

band geeks= public enemy number one

you have to explain to newbies the difference between 'stage time' and 'real time' when the SMs start calling times till curtain.

You get sucked into doing little kid make-up for musicals because green room isn't open yet and you have "nothing better to do".

You haven't yelled in years. You've projected. But people still think you're yelling.

17 year old white girl play a middle aged black man from the projects? Simple as pie.

You never understand the reason why you can't do 'just one more show'
