Choreographer for a show I'm auditiong for. - 2008/04/26 00:00
So, one of my usual summer theatre companies is doing a Broadway revue called "On Broadway" this summer. I plan on auditioning, but they've asked me to be the choreographer as well. (I'm not quite sure why our usual choreographer isn't doing this show, but oh well.) Anyway, the lineup of shows is:
Wicked Les Miserables Annie The Music Man Hairspray Cats Phantom of the Opera The Lion King Grease The Little Mermaid
Has anyone had an experience like this? I'm auditioning for a show, but I'm also on production staff. This company is usually pretty good at giving everyone a fair chance (We were all shocked when Gertrude was given to someone new last year, and it turned out great!) However, considering the amount of roles involved, chances are I will get something. Are their ways to make it clear that I had not part in casting myself, or have I just set myself up for hoards of rumors?
Also, does anyone have any tips on preparing big group numbers with just myself and maybe one or two other people? I like to see how things look when there's more than one thing going on at one time, but I don't really have the resources to do that. Being a choreographer is all new to me.
