surprise, surprise... - 2006/11/08 01:39 so, britany spears announced today that she is filing for divorce from the so-talented k-fed. last week, reese witherspoon and ryan philippe separated (that one hit me hard b/c they are around my age, have been married a few years longer than me, and have two children.... also, they seemed to fight for their marriage)....

there have been countless hook-ups and break-ups in show biz, and unfortunately more hook-ups end before they've even begun. maybe this is a crazy topic/question, but do you ever think about this when you consider a career in show biz? do you think it's the business that ruins the relationships or do you think it's something totally unrelated?
They call me Jessica (like: They call me lady luck... lol)

Favorite roles:

Eva Peron, Evita; Jack's Mother, Into the Woods; Sonia, Godspell; Anything Goes, Reno Sweeney; Audrey, Little Shop of Horrors; Catherine, Pippin

Re:surprise, surprise... - 2006/11/08 02:01 When I was in highschool I dated a few fellow performers - most of them weren't serious, but the one relationship that was serious lasted a few years. One of the reasons we ultimately grew apart was a clashing of egos.

You have to have a certain amount of confidence to put yourself out there in the public eye, but I've noticed that the celebs who seem to be most frequently in the spotlight for clashing relationships are also those that come across as the most egotistical, so perhaps that does play a part in it.

Reese & Ryan splitting did surprise me - I thought they would be in it for the "long haul" - but they did get married quite young, didn't they?

Then there's the whole acting vs reality thing - sometimes when you work so closely with someone it can get confusing. But I think that if your "real life" relationship is solid, it shouldn't be an issue.

Re:surprise, surprise... - 2006/11/08 05:09 Maybe now that they're getting a divorce we won't have to hear about them all the time! Also, perhaps Britney will make a comeback, while I'm not a big fan of her singing, I have to say I found her to be quite the performer. ----------Emily----------

Currently rehearsing:
Urleen - Footloose
Favorite Roles:
Aida - AIida[i], Joanie Lish - [i]The Full Monty, Carmen - Sweet Charity, Crystal - Little Shop of Horrors, Sarah's Friend - Ragtime, Little Red Riding Hood - Into the Woods, Evillene - The Wiz

Re:surprise, surprise... - 2006/11/09 00:38 I don't really know... at sixteen, I've never been in a romantic relationship. I honestly cannot see myself getting married, so I don't think it'll affect me. But I do think it adds a certain amount of strain to performers, especially big-name actors who are constantly in the public eye. It can't be easy to go to a store with your boyfriend or girlfriend and see your own picture splashed across the cover of a tabloid wth a headline that screams some completely untrue and ridiculous rumor about your relationship. It can cause jealousy and misunderstanding.
I think it would be even worse if there is only one well-known person in the relationship and the other isn't use to being observed so closely. That could cause further tension.
Auditioning for: Brigadoon, theatre season, American Music Theatre, Into the Woods, Sound of Music, and AMDA.

Currently In: Nothing
